I have the kit with the original LED scanner in the stash but I'm scared to mess with it, I paid to much... 🙁
Basic kit has been re-popped, so I've made my own LED scanner unit 🙂

Is this the scanner, you created?

I assembled it, yes. I didn't write the code, although I did have to make slight changes for the unusually small arduino board I used.

Its powered by a tiny lipo cell, only about 150mAh I think.

That is awesome and I'd buy two or three for my AMT-KITT-Kits 😄

I'll get it in a model and see how it looks. I have to make the little PCB the LEDs are soldered to. With cost of hardware, my time, and shipping they might not be good value.

seems to work ok. no idea about the cost but for sure cheaper than the aoshima led modules from evilbay... 😉

If I get a chance I will make a couple more, I think I have all the parts I need...

would it be possible to have the specs to replicate it?

Yeah, it's actually very simple. An Arduino beetle, 8 LEDs and 8 resistors and a trim pot to set the speed. I will find the link an post it here. I changed the code a little bit so it would work on the beetle board, I can email that to you.
