1:72 E-100 Ausf.B (Henschel Turret) (Paper Panzer)

Someone else caught by the "E-100-fever" XD I always found this turret design (based on Michael Rinaldi´s work) to be quite intriguing 👍
Thx friends!
@Tom: Yes, you infected me😆
I've had it in stock for some time now and I thought it is time now.
I liked the slimmer turret design which almost gives it a sporty look without the skirts 😉
However, I had to steal the gun barrel from an old 1/35 Churchill.
It comes pretty close to the original.
I milled the thread myself.
Yes.
I had a pretty nasty mishap while airbrushing that could only be fixed with paint remover.
And that didn't do the OKB soft resin any good.
They practically disintegrated.
😭😭
@Chan: Yes, I tried to work with this scheme.
In the upper areas and horizontal areas I worked brighter and tried to get darker downwards.
I used three steps:
1 Allover dark gray primer
2 Light gray for the larger areas
3 white for highlights
@Lukasz: Of course, you are welcome, but at the time it´s on hold until I have the new parts.
It will probably not continue until december....
@Michael: You hit the nail´s head- that sucks 🤬
Too bad, I'm gonna follow even if you're up to starting a whole new kit 😉
I take a seat! I see it's the time of continue. I hope I didn't miss anything !
Welcome Zsolt, nice to know you on board again!
You haven't missed much yet😉
Even if it is a german what if 46 tank, I cannot help myself than like it.
So much thanks to all of you mates!!
I´m really glad about your comments 😁
@Lukas: On the first attempt I had a mishap while airbrushing and had to remove the paint again.
And that didn't do the tracks any good at all.
Things happen...
What you see now is the second pass.
Thanks a lot Ralf!
For this here and for all your other comments and likes 😁
The weathering, those small scratches and the overall chipped off paint with the very local colour variation are very impressive for 1:72.
One can say this is even 1:35 from a certain distance.
Btw, I didn't know there was an Ausf. B to the E-100 with this slender gun, I only knew the version with that massive gun muzzle, probably Ausf. A.
Thank you very much for your nice comments Arthur and Marius!
@Marius: I think it was equipped with a smaller caliber, at least my new barrel fit very well to the one from the conversion set.
But, I don't know exactly, it's "what-if", so it doesn't make much difference to me 😁
Just liked the slightly more "sporty" style of it 😂
Album info
I bought this kit (Modelcollect, UA72068) second hand and therefore a few parts of the contents were missing.
PE parts, a few other small parts and the tracks.
I got the small PE set from Voyager Model (PE72005) to replace them, but the rectangular grilles didn't quite fit - they were a bit too small.
Replaced the missing tracks with those from OKB Grigorov (S72250).
I wanted to give the whole thing a more "field-suitable" look and added tools from a Flyhawk supplement set for german tanks (FH72001).
Also add a container for the barrel cleaning device and is made of different left over parts.
Got me a "resin block;)" from Modell Trans Modellbau (MT72340) to replace the turret.
Here I replaced the commander's dome too (OKB Grigorov, S72442) and the barrel with an aluminum part.
I stole it from an old 1/35 Churchill and it fit almost perfectly in size and shape to the original part.
At the muzzle I milled an M3 thread because I wanted to represent it with the muzzle brake removed.
In addition i changed and improved some other details too.
The commander also comes from Model Trans Modellbau (MT72908) from a 1946 tank crew set.
After a big mishap happened to me at the first attempt while airbrushing, I was forced to use the Paint Remover.
However, it attacked the resin tracks and turned them into a jelly-like mass.
Before it could go any further, the entire chassis had to be removed, cleaned and reassembled.
