Well, next project is another group build elsewhere. This is a do something outside of your norm build. So I go from a spinny thingy to a diggy target thingy.
I am sorting out exactly how I an=m going to accomplish the paint and weathering on this one. A LOT of parts in this kit.

OK, so I got a start on this thing. I will be doing the USMC version, not the the Israeli. Though the Israeli one DOES have a mounted machine gun on top. 😄
First, a pic of the sprues. EVERY OTHER MANFACTURER, and I mean EVERY DAMN ONE, needs to look at how Meng does the sprue ID tabs. Nice big clear letters that you can fill in with a sharpie so you can easily see them. This one thing alone makes them the superior company above ALL. This makes life SOOOOOO much easier.
Next pic, I actually got some building done. I pre painted a bunch of stuff on the sprues as its mostly one color. Ill go back over it as I finish stages. Doing this a little different than I do planes.

Cool, following! (What a smart thing to do to fill in the sprue numbers!! Never thought of it)

badass machine. Funny that the israelis buy them from the States refurbish them and sell them back to the US Army. You can easily bring in some color by painting some parts in Catarpilar yellow. And endless possibilities for weathering and paint abraision.

I have already painted some parts yellow. And have plans for plenty of weathering. 🙂

Started working on the cab walls. Got 2 done then realized I needed to spray more parts. So not much progress. A pic of everything to date.

So, almost at the point where I put the roof on. Some pics of the interior to remember it by. *sigh*
Getting closer to the most dreaded part. The tracks.

Thank you gentlemen. 🙂
A little more progress. The roof went on. Hatches and handles and stuff put on and test fit on the body. Next up are the hydraulic hoses and then I believe the cab goes on for good.

All the handles are now on, hydraulic lines done and cab attached for reals. Working on drive wheels and tracks soon to terrorize me.

So I got the drive wheel assemblies together. Tracks are next, but I want to weather it before I get all that one there and then add on weathering to the tracks. That way I can reach everything. So started on making it dirty.

Annnnnnd, done with this thing. Not completed, but done. Boxed up. Screw this.
F%^& these tracks. There is no way I am going to get 40some odd sets of these links together...wait, two tacks so like NINETY, the way they are designed. And then the actual tacks attached...NO. This is insanity. Seriously, no way.
If someone wants this thing, message me. We can work out a price and I will send it to you.

Its back on!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! I finally realized I could just order a set of tracks directly from Friulmodel and it wouldnt cost me body parts to get them to the states. So I now have the tracks. Still three pieces each link, but MUCH better design. So some point soon I will dig it out of the pile its in and finish it up.

OK, so between bouts with the U2, I am putting the tracks together. I am actually enjoying these. A MUCH better design than the kit ones. One track down and initial paint on it and the second track about half way. The kit calls for 43 links per track. The Fruil set has a good 10 extra, so there should be plenty for adjusting.
And these need to be tight. No sag in any pic I have seen of these dozers.

Got both tracks on. Fixed my mistake on the first one. Handles and lights on driver side. Intake and exhaust on. Starting to put together the hydraulics for the blade. Getting close.

I am in the home stretch. Main arms fitted and hydraulics being assembled. Last update pic until the final reveal. Like a year later. LOL

Nice so see this progressing. May I suggest to use a pic of your model as teaser? It should stir some interest I am sure.

Finally, a year later and its done. I feel it turned out pretty well considering this is the first target I have ever done as an adult. Hell, I only did like one or two tanks as a kid. And those were to blow up and shoot with a BB gun.
