I watched the entire Alien saga while building the Xenomorph up to this point, about 12 full hours of gluing, gap filling and putty work, and long hours of sanding. It's all seam work. This one was my most difficult one to date, because the fit was so poor, I had to glue small sections of the seam at a time, and work my way down like a zipper, to achieve a decent fit. I was in the zone, there's something special about this styrene, in that it feels exactly like carving and sanding on wood, an absolute pleasure to work with. It's ready for primer now, while I figure out how to polish the clear skull piece to make it clear…

Following eagerly.
But is it just me or is this thing waaaaay less impressive standing like that? To me, it is all in the movement in the movies.

Try to imagine it gripping your body tightly and penetrating your skull René, like I just did.. ha ha just kidding ? Yeah, the pose is pretty funky on this 42 year old kit!

Thanks S M! I had planned on a gloss black finish with silver and chrome highlights, but I'm hesitant to paint over the green because it's rare, and looks really cool. I may just keep it original to look more like the box art..?

I have another Xenomorph kit on deck, and that one's definitely going to be gloss black..

Thanks Argento 1975, yeah I think I've decided to keep it green and add a high gloss finish, as they were always shiny and dripping with goo. I'm having some trouble polishing the clear head piece, it seems like it may not become as clear as I had hoped

Maybe it's possible to use the clear part as a pattern and make a vacu piece?

Or dip the clear part in Future/Klir. It often helps to... "clear up clear parts"!?

That's a very complex shape to try and cast, has anyone had any luck with mold making? A Vacu-form machine would be fun to play around with. I'll definitely try dipping it in future, couldn't hurt.

I know a technology where you heat a plastic foil with a toaster. You hold the foil over the slots, needs a little bit training, maybe it's worth a try
