Nicely crafted dio, though these kits are 30 years old they are of good quality. Did you used oils for painting the figures?

Thanks! Acrylics for the figures; both paints and washes, plus some ink washes on the skin.

Fabulous Dio! A scary thought though... I remember making this kit when it came out, well almost, but it was on the back of a Famo. I later bought the flak and trailer, and pulled it behind a Krupp. My scary thought is, that was around 1979. Am I really that old? Lol, maybe I am just? Thanks for the memories my friend. Keep up with the awesome work 👍

You are not the only ones. I did built the Flackvierling and probably before 1979. I really liked it. Unfortunately I don't have it anymore.

Michael great job on the dio..isn't it a great feeling to resurrect an old kit and bring it back to life..I did the same thing about five years ago and really jumped back into model building after a 25 year hiatus. I am really enjoying it again.. again great job on your dio. What snow product did you use?

@joe I made something myself for this one. It was the first snow dio I've ever made. I used clear paintable silicone mixed with talcum powder. The clear silicone let it look translucent when it was thin, so the footprints would show the ground a bit. I wanted a wet early spring look. I also added some gloss gel medium around the snow edges to make it look melty. I think I'm going to try the Precision Ice &Snow products for the next one.

I like old Tamiya, more so when done like that. Great dio 👍
Just my twocent opinion: The weathering on the out side, just beautiful, very well done. But the big contrast to the very clean inside?... Make me think...?

Yeah, oh well. I got sick of working on it. 🙂 There is some weathering on the inside, but not much.

I like this a lot and just like Rui says, I too like old kits. Just add skill and patience as some very old Humbrol (or was it Airfix?) ads used to say. You've done both Michael. Lovely work. Bravo!

I bought these kits when I was a teenager and finally got around to starting them 30 years later.
