Okay, now that the BauReihe 1 is finished, I asked my daughter which kit is next. She was very attracted by the colours on this Toyota (who isn't😉 )

You go on holiday too often then 😉
There wasn't much to miss. I cut and sanded all parts and gave them a soapy bath this morning

Nice one, beware of the decals, these don't fit the model as they should according to reviews...

Thanks Bart. In this case the decals ARE the model. Otherwise it's just a plain white car 🙁

Okay, I intended to paint and decal the body first, then paint and assemble the rest. We'll see how it goes.

One of those lightbars they put on the nose for night sessions? Way too difficult for me. If only I knew someone who's done a bullbar recently 😉

Hah! I know the feeling. My son got a steering wheel for Christmas so we've been driving the coffee table for several hours already.

Oh man, I love C&C, I have the ultimate collection which has 17 C&C titles in it. @Greg... coffee table? a bit low yes? or are you in low rider mode 😄? * Low Rider song plays*

I had to buy the ultimate collection as well, as my original cd version from '94? didn't run on Win10.
My son got his 10th or 11th nerf gun, so we are ducking for cover all day long 😉

Drowned them in softener and put the car away for the night. Hopefully there's a good result in the morning.
C&C: anything but 4 and the last Red Alert.

@Tom, I really like Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge exp... Tiberian Sun + Firestorm exp. is a close 2nd @Martin I'm surprised you didn't shred the 36 while handling it... I shred decals like a pro even without soaking them 🙁 I have to try and cover/fix the shredded decal with paint and hope it's not too noticeable 😛.

Hehe. I worked on Red Alert 2. I designed and implemented the audio system among other things. Ancient history now.

The decals more feel like stickers. Usually it is possible to move them around a bit with a soft brush. On this build they almost instantly settle. I actually damaged quite a few, including the 36, just with a soft brush. Not too conspicuous as long as I don't zoom in too much while photographing 😄

An another two hours spent. It does look good thoug, the red and green on the white. It is a **** in the *** to get the decals in the right curvy place, being so sticky and all.
Yesterday's decals settled really well, so I'm hoping today's will too.

if i have to bid how is tougher and more persistent, you or the decals, i am sure you will emerge successful
but remember that you can weather a rally car until the mud will cover any possible imperfection that only you can see, and nobody will ever see again.

Decals settled really well. Sometime soon I'll have to do the rest of them, slowly. Time gives better results.
Mud could come to the rescue, but I haven't decided yet if I'll do a small dio or not, and what it should look like. First get this baby done!

from where i see, it looks excellent. conforming to every shape in the car, and there are some nasty forms to conform to. some thin layers of clear cote of choice and it will be fantastic.

Peter, only 30-something left 🙁
It is a precarious chore, I managed to kill one decal. Folded up on me and was unsalvageble. Of course it wasn't a miniscule one, but the 36 on her butt. If you won't tell, I won't 😉
Spanjaard, I'm looking to give Alclad's aqua gloss a try.
Thanks for the many compliments

Chris, only the one screwup!
Tom, actually a bit afraid of screwing up the clear coat, there is no stripping and starting over option....

Agreed, Tamiya is top notch for decals and build quality, definitely makes it easier (at least from the brands that I have built) and I also agree with @Lode that you can't even tell that they are decals 🙂

In the left corner: big-mouth-martin
In the right corner: the mates
Bossy, I'll brush paint them. The headlight will be hidden by glass, so a few brushstrokes won't be too visible. The gaskets will require some full attention.

Today is my little girl's birthday. So I had the day off. While she was in school I found some time to start final assembly of this girl. In the pictures the dash is in the wrong place on the right. It is okay now.
Waiting for the Future to set on the clear parts. Then some more painting and the last second additions. The end is nearing!

looking good... for double curved decals like on the seat, a heat treatment with the hair-dryer can help the decal adapting to the different forms... Makes me wanna place mine in the building cue, but that is already a long one...

The mrs and I celebrated that we were lucky enough to get this beautiful girl (mom's genes, not mine).
Although I have a very good relationship with the school principal, he's a man of principle and didn't let go 😉
Bart, usually I give a good soak or three in decal softener. The picture was taken after the first one. It settled down nicely, but as the seat is glued, I can't take new pictures.
