Here is its story !
November 1944
After the invasion of Hungary by the Germans in March 44, the Soviet attempt to retake the country and now are approaching, from the west of Budapest.
North, German troops, retreating before the Russian steamroller, are pushed into the mountains to the north of the city. Soviet troops approaching the capital, it will take two months later.
A light convoy follows a trail in the mountainous area of the Matra Mountains, northeast of Budapest. it is composed of the famous German mule, the Raupenschlepper Steyr RSO, real tractor ideal for difficult terrain, on which was mounted a 20 mm gun AA, a rare hitch built just in 12 copies.
The slope is low in these Hungarian areas where the altitude does not exceed 1014m. the RSO is towing a trailer loaded with ammunition and boxes, the Germans have tried to take as much material with them. Given the urgency of the downturn, various companies have come together to join the 6th army sent by Hitler wishing to defend Budapest at any price gebirgsjägers, panzergrenadiers, Hungarian soldiers still in German uniform ... A Kubelwagen leads the way, with on board the unit commander of Flak.
At the bend of a ravine, the convoy discovers the plane shot few hours earlier by the 20mm cannon ... The fearsome Lavochkin LA5-FN landed on the belly and in the torrent, guided, in a final burst of survival by the pilot, who however, died while trying to get off from the cockpit, hurt to death.
This is a victory for the convoy, but it will be short-lived.

Dam dam dam that's outstanding masterpiece, could you tell me a bit about how to make that broken wing, I really like that.

What exceptional work. The scope of the diorama and the presentation are wonderful. Your figures are art. Keep up the great work.

Thank you mates ! I really appreciate your kind comments.
Aaron, you'll find all the photos in the links. I studied different pictures (books, movies, documentaries, etc ...) about this plane to see how it was designed ... I then cut the wing, and built the structure with the son of iron, plastic card ... torn parts of the wing were performed with metal food packaging.
The cradle of the aircraft's nose is in metal, the rest of the structure is wood with a layer of bakelite on the panels.

wow, I missed this one back in the day, a really excellent dio from any aspect. and 1/72? i honestly believe it was 1/35! the broken wing is really realistic. i am not sure about the piece of wing sitting next to the plane... if it hit a tree or something, it would have not fall next to the plane, would it? anyway, that is maybe just rivet counting 🙂 congrats on a fantastic diorama!

excellent - master-class! except that i don't like seeing dead people in dioramas.

thank you for your nice messages! It asked me a lot of work and researches for touching the end of the project.
Yes the wing has been a common subject of discussion. In this diorama it has been cut by the sharp stone in the ground.
Maybe not the best point of the diorama. 🙂

Excellent detailing, figure and vehicle painting and dio. Good decision that you omitted one or two trees that would have blocked part of the view. Now it looks really harmonious.
