That is a different modulation technique. I've tried it on a tank before. But it didn't look as good as this.

So instead of doing it with one primer color (like black or white) you using more different colors?

It didn't work the way it was supposed to on vallejo. I know it works on alclad, so I ended up masking, and painting different metallic shades.
