Penguin Manju Go

Work on the ice breaker has begun.
The Penguin Manju Go is the renamed ABG 5003 Shirase seen in the show "A Place Further Than the Universe".
I didn't build many ships yet so this will be interesting. No PE here but maybe some rigging?

Made some progress painting but my masking job was not very good, so I gotta fix some overspray.

A little progress here. Decals added and she now wears her new name proudly. 🙂 I am not too happy with the containers and I hope I can fix them a bit without making everything worse. I'll also have to add a few more coats of clear coat before I apply a bit of wash to let the details pop out.
The base is still WIP and I ponder how to make a somehwat believable thin shelf of ice the ship already broke threw a bit.

After trying and testing I finally made good progress on this project and attached the model to its base.
At first I wanted to make her break through thin ice but I couldn't decide on how it should look and even less on how to execute the idea, so I scratched the ice.
Instead she just slowy moves through open water.

For the water I used AK Interactive Water Gel which I painted with Tamiya Clear Blue applied another layer on top and then fixed the ship with the same stuff.
After that I used AK Interactive Foam to create the foamy waves around the ship as it moves with slow speed.
I am not much of a ship modeler but I like how it turned out. Yes, there is no rigging and PE but one step at a time.
The base still needs a bit more work and a socket and then I can call it done.
