It looks fabulous. I also get the Alclad II for my Vampire. What color did you airbrushed? I have ALC-106 White Aluminium.

Thanks David. I used plain aluminium ALC-101. It's not exactly correct when compared to the photos I have but it's the closest (lightest) alclad colour I have.

I am planning to use black primer & microfiller. Will post pictures as soon as I finish the airbrush. Hope it will be as good as yours since I didn't airbrush anyting past 15 years 🙂

Excellent, can't wait to see it. I'm quite new to airbrushing so still learning. This was my first time using alclad II. I'm sure you're aware but surface prep is really important. Not sure if there is any difference when using the black primer but I cleaned the surface, sanded with micro finishing cloth 6000 then 12000. Applied a fine layer of the grey primer. Waited about an hour then sanded with 6000 again, primed, sanded with 6000, primed again then sanded with 6000 then 12000 (i waited an hour in-between priming sessions apart from the last one which was overnight as it was getting late). Then applied first layer of aluminium, waited until dry and sort of lightly rubbed the surface with kitchen paper towel. Cleaned the surface again for dust and hairs!! with a brush and air from the airbrush. Then did a second coat of aluminium and that's where I'm at now. The photos don't show it but there are some faults. I hope the above is useful to you; I googled 'how to use alclad II' and found pretty much what I just wrote. Not sure if its the best way?

I am aware of the need of the perfectly prepared primer surface, although I didn't read about it as much as you did. I plan to tone the final coat with the gloss black Mr. Color to differentiate particular panels and break the monotonous livery of this bird. A lot of reading ahead of me. Check my album from the Zdická Padesátka 2014 model show, picture #21 onwards, there's Aero L-29 Delfín finished with the same process and Alclad 2 colors. Album info
Cockpit done. Nothing fancy added just some pre painted etched seatbelts from my spares and some brass wire for the ejection seat handles. Managed to screw up the original canopy parts; received new ones from airfix (extremely quick too 🙂 ) Just waiting for the new canopy parts to dry after a dunk in humbrol clear. Then it's time for a wash, mask and hopefully some primer.*update* primer and alclad aluminium applied. Next will be masking for a base coat of white then the luminous orange.
