Yamaha TMAX - WIP

November 1, 2024This kit have big problem with the headlamp.
It is designed to be expressed with stickers without any reflective parts, and even the space where the stickers should be attached is ambiguous.3
November 1, 2024I used epoxy putty to shape the basic shape.
After watching a movie on Netflix, you'll be in a good state to trim or scrape.4
November 1, 2024Trimmed. I don't think I'll need to sand it separately because of the refraction in the headlamp cover.
However, since the cover is thick, it sticks out more than the body, so I had to trim it a lot.5
November 2, 2024I painted the surface black so that no light can pass through. (Other black parts too...)6
November 2, 2024Then I painted the white surface.7
November 2, 2024The body was painted GSI's Shine Red and clear coated twice. (I like this color more because it's more refreshing than Italian Red)8
November 2, 2024After a little sanding, I polished it.9
November 2, 2024Last masked.10
November 2, 2024All air-brushing done.11
November 2, 2024I brush painted the headlamp reflectors with AK Super Chrome.12
November 2, 2024The etching is so thin that I thought that if I wiped it off, the parts that needed to be left would also be wiped off, so I painted it with a brush.13
November 2, 2024Painted with paint brush.14
November 2, 2024Ready to assemble.
Since there are only a few parts, the work speed is very pleasant 🙂15
November 2, 2024I thought masking and airbrushing would be too much of a hassle, and I also thought the quality wouldn't be satisfactory if I painted with a brush, so I used Hasegawa sheet.16
November 3, 2024The diameter is 1.8mm, 1.8 x 3.14 = 5.65mm17
November 3, 2024Wow~ I cut the Hasegawa mirror sheet to 5.7mm and wrapped it, so it fit perfectly.18
November 3, 2024Because the adhesive area is small, I thought it would fall off easily, so I reinforced the adhesive strength with wood glue.19
November 3, 2024I tried using the detail-up parts that had an etched instrument panel, and it fit well.20
November 3, 2024Originally, stickers were included, but the detail-up product includes decals.
However, the surface condition of the decals shown looks like they have reached the end of their lifespan.
I thought I would have to paint them if there was a problem after attaching them, but fortunately, they attached well without any problems.21
November 3, 2024The mirror part included as a metal sticker in the Detail Up product was not the right size. So I cut the edges with scissors and attached them.22
November 3, 2024Assembly is, as expected from Tamiya, simple enough that no adhesive is needed overall, except for some parts.23
November 3, 2024These parts are also designed to slide in and hold the left and right forks without being glued.
24
November 3, 2024I used metal tape on the rear reflector.25
November 4, 2024Assembled head parts and attached Yamaha emblem metal sticker.26
November 4, 2024The metal stickers that came with the detail-up parts were purchased used, but they didn't have any adhesive left.
Rather, the adhesive of the vinyl covering the metal was so strong that when I tried to peel the metal off the vinyl, the letters that were connected together fell off, so I had to apply adhesive to each alphabet one by one and stick them on.
Even the adhesive of the vinyl remained on the top of the metal, so it didn't stick to the places it needed to be glued, but stuck to the tweezers, making it really hard.27
November 4, 2024There were a generous two sets included, but I could barely attach only one set, and this is remaining residue.28
November 4, 2024Anyway I finished this.
1/24 bikes are really cute.29
November 4, 2024Finish.30
November 4, 2024Thanks for watching.
