Supermarine Spitfire F Mk.22

Using RB productions rivetter and pigments to check the progress, all free hand. 

Detailing up some bits 

The brothers, there are more spits on my stash wanting to join the party. 

Basic paint with Mr Hobby 8 silver very nice color to reproduce the High speed silver paint from the original. 

Painting some dudes to go along the plane 

Decals going down with Micro sol and set 

Rivets showing nicely, but I found the decals do not like to let them show trough.

getting ready to receive some weathering, the wing tip navigation lights were cutted of, clear plastic glued in place and shaped to size, than masked for painting 

Here I did a mistake, I glued the numbers in the same orientation, they should be in oposite orientation, nothing I can do about it now. 

Weathering the plane with some panel line washes from Tamiya I painted the exhaust stains but didn´t like the shape, they looks strange to me 

Looking some pictures, I saw there were no black stains around the front pipes, and the shape should be longer and pointing down folowing the air flow over the wing 

This shape too straight and ending abruptly does not show the true. 

Some pictures showing the exhaust stains that I want to represent, note the second plane in the line how long and dark the stains are looking, also we note how it is clean right next to the exhaust pipe, specially the front ones 

that´s camuflaged and another version but still we can see the shape of the smoke and how dark the stain can be, in this case it ends abruptly. 

So I loaded my airbrush with some silver to correct the exhaust stains 

Cleaned the area around the exmaust 

Sprayed lightly the silver to cover the black. 

The exhaust is now reshaped, looking better 

some pictures show this stain very dark and long, I wanted to do that, the contrast of the camera is not representing the true, it shows too much contrast 

Some more pigments on the exhaust, some fuel spill stains in front of the cockpit 

 

 

I though if I should weather the spinner but I like the read so much that I´ll just keep as it is
