Hello everyone! Here's my latest work and it's quite something original for me 🙂

Looks like fun! And nicely done.
Q: How careful must one be when adding oil to the wood? Presumably, you add some oil, but I can imagine how excess oil can make the wood look bad and splotchy in a way.
I think you should consider packing the sails. I think that would make the model look even better. Obviously, only a ship at docks, or anchored would have its sails packed.

Thanks for the feedback!
Here's how I've treated the wood: after everything was done, I've added Tamiya brown wash to all the wooden surfaces. After it has dried, I've covered all the wood with a few layers of shellac-based varnish, which adds a very nice touch to the surface and protects it. Nothing else was done. Only one thing to mention - paddles were treated with black wash, to add some difference in the outlook. And the stand was covered with a thick layer of bitumen-based varnish.
About packing the sails. This would be a good idea, but I've had so much difficulties while sewing an edge threads to them, and also the installation was very tricky, therefore I would like to leave them in such fashion. Still, I'm hoping to make more wooden ships in the future, so your advice won't be forgiven, thanks!

I am only familiar with Tamiya's Enamel Panel Accent Line Color range of bottles, is this "brown wash" something else?

Sehr schön mate! Can you launch this boat or is it too heavy or not watertight?

Thank you, Neuling! it's very light and quite small, but it's not waterproof, due to small seams between planks.

Album info
My very first attempt at wooden ship modelling. Wanted to try something new during the new year holidays. Really enjoyed the process, nonetheless it was not very easy overall and quite challenging in some places.
