Welcome! Managed to work with masking tape today. A lot of masking for this project and my Honda Today.
I tried to roughly stick to the reference but also do a bit of my own pattern, somewhat at least. Especially on the right wing we can't see much because of the tail.
I think the pattern is okay now, it still looks enough like cracks in between ice shelves. The inner sides of the vertical stabilizers will be blue, same goes for the underside of the jet. The Pylons are in the same grey as most of the aircraft's body.
As far as I know the Su-33 does not use any external fuel tanks, though it would be kind of interesting to attach them to this one. Like it's equipped for very long patrols over the sea.
Maybe I have something left in my bits box. I also consider some sci-fi-ish ordnance but it's not decided yet. Maybe I can come up with something interesting. If not, she will receive the many missiles that came with this kit.

Thanks Huma. Just a small update: I painted some black around the cockpit and painted the metal surfaces for the area in front of the gun.

Hi Robin, good result so far.
The vertical stabilisers should be 90 degrees to the fuselage for the Flanker, not at a slight angle as the Mig-29.

Thanks Christian. Don't worry, I just loosely put them there for the photo. I will glue them at the right angle during the final assembly.
I might have to repaint the missiles. There are no photos of them yet. The painting guide of the kit is not really helpful. I'll probably have to look at some reference photos.
Even if the colours are not completely accurate, it's still better than what they look right now. 😄
Going to take some more freedom with the rims(?) of the landing gear. Usually they are green but I think about painting them blue or maybe red.

Album info
Fictional Flanker with an interesting white and blue camouflage.
