Started this sneakily in march….. Trying to get different shades of black by preshading 50 shades of grey. Succes or not? Your positive feedback or tips for improvement are appreciated!

Very thin black paint 90-10 thinner-paint and about 20 layers 😉

Any suggestions for colours of the letters on the base? Silver lining and letters with a black background?

That pre shading works looks good Martin. A must on all black aircraft.

Added some silver and gunmetal. Scraped the raised panel lines with an 8b pencil for some definition.
Painted the letters on the base.
I want a dustfree box!

Decals are done as well. Numbers s**k.
By PM one of the more valiant mates gave some honest and sincere feedback. It seems that my black is a bit plasticcy on the pictures and could use more of a metallic sheen. When I look at my model, the black is too metallic imo. Not much to be done with the decals on, except hope that the matt varnish will bring it all together.

Can it be done better? Maybe. Is it good? Yes it is. Do I like it? A lot. Can I do it better? Probably no. Can somebody else do it better? For sure, but that is always the case!
Above all.....did you enjoy? Would it have a place in your display area? I believe both will get a yes answer😉

I did enjoy this one, experimenting with the preshading was fun. It did make me realise that painting is THE area which I can improve most. Which colours to match which. How to get a better mottling, etc. Practice might not make perfect, but improvement is the goal!
And she is in the cabinet already 🙂
