Ships are so much fun to build I think, somehow it seems more relaxing than building airplanes and jets. It is also more natural to use styrene when working with a ship, as things tend to be more flat and angular.

I wonder, how well does your after market photo etch railings fit? Did you check?

Btw, I have wondered if one could create the railings using styrene, I think it could be done, but that would involve drilling vertically into every thin piece of styrene rod, to create an oval space, so that this piece can meet straight into a vertical styrene rod. Presumably it would be important to first, both guide the drill bit onto the styrene rod, making sure neither the styrene rod nor the drill bit move to the side, presumably requiring special tooling.

How do I follow this project? I don't see a button for 'following' anywhere?

The 1:200 PE railings from Aber look much bigger than the styrene kit ones, but at the same time look like they will be OK when I hold them up to the model. I'll see. I have made railings out of thread for 1:250 paper ship models who h works well, and they are very cheap and quickish to make.

Years ago ,when I was in my mid twenties ( I'm 70 ) anyway , I built the " Le Suroit " and scaled it up and built a model of her that was 5 feet long . It went great in the water. Had to sell it years ago ,....got to big to keep anywhere....lol . yours is looking very good mate …..

Thanks Ron. I would like to scratch build a1:50 Prince Madog (1968 - 2001) but my skills are not quite there yet. I guess your le suroit was about 1:50 ? I work on research vessels so my interest is research vessel models.

I think the main problem for all us modelers is , we buy the model and start building it , and about half way through we just figured out there's no where to put it …..lol Cheers

I gave away two finished submarine models of mine to my local bobby shop where they are on display. They were airbrushed, and looked good, so they were ok for public display. I can always make new sub models, easy enough, not that many parts. 🙂

I think this white colored ship will look beautiful! 🙂 Anything colored is imo better than the gray military ships.

Speaking of gray, there ought to be a law against painting one's house gray imho. 😄
