1957 Chevrolet Corvette (Diecast)

AFTER... Engine detailed with Tamiya acrylics, lacquers, enamels, panel liner and home-made rust 

 

Exhaust painted in acrylic medium grey wash and detailed with panel liner and home-made rust 

 

Parts of chasis painted in Tamiya enamel gun metal 

 

Rear lights painted in Tamiya acrylic clear red and clear orange 

Doors detailed with metallic silver Sharpie... not my best work  

Metal body detailed with oil based fine line maker 

Chroming done with silver metallic Sharpie. I really need to get chrome marker for this kind of work. 

Engine bay painted in Tamiya acrylic flat black and emanel gun metal and then detailed with panel liner and home-made rust 

 

Axle painted in enamel gun metal 

Gear knob, originally chrome, painted with Tamiya white lacquer 

Dashboard completed with painted speaker and added 8 track, knob detailing and engine light. Decals were already existing.  

First attempt at making a hose line from scratch. Wound wire around a popsicle stick and spaced the gaps evenly before wrapping it in black electrical tape. In hindsight I should have used Teflon tape as the electrical tape was just a little too thick and didn't show the ribbing as much as I'd hoped.  

Engine completed with wiring and hose. My first ever attempt at wiring an engine.  

Spark plug cabling as seen from underneath.  

 

 

Turn signal lever made from scratch using an electric guitar string dipped in white lacquer paint.  

Signal lever superglued to steering wheel shaft.  

Steering wheel painted in a mix of yellow, black and red lacquers to colour match the car body, and metallic silver sharpie with fine tip black marker detailing.  

Carpeted interior done with red flocking. First time working with flocking. Mats left to retain matte look. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wow is all I can say! I bought a Molotow liquid chrome marker and touched up all the chrome parts. I am amazed at the finish.  

 

I went back and redid the doors with the chrome.  

I also went back and chromed the body parts which were previously done with a silver sharpie.

Almost there!  

Body clear coated with 1 x mist coat and 2 x wet coats of acrylic clear spray. The body wasn't in the best shape to start with so it basically just made it more obvious.  

 

 

Ended up putting the holes in the steering wheel with a pin vice. First time using one. Could have gone better. 

Dashboard and steering wheel installed. Not long now!
