added the RLM76 scribbling at the topside.. Think I need to redo the scribbling at the bottom

That is some neat camo job. How do you do it?

very low pressure (0.6bar) and I removed the protection ring of the needle from my airbrush. In that way I could start from a few mm's from the model. Watch out then for the needle tip!!

When starting to spray, try to start while moving the airbrush, not from standstill. Also, a lot of patience can help a lot... (took me 2.5 hours to apply)

Very challenging camo! BTW which airbrush you use? Sometimes pressure depends on the airbrush as well

thx... at the moment I use a very cheap white product with a nozzle of 0.2mm... pressure used was 0.8bar. Still satisfies at the moment... but...

Do you have issues like nozzle clogging while painting those narrow lines? Which paint do you use?

I've painted this with Gunze Sangyo and Tamiya paint, 50/50 thinned with isopropylalcohol (Normally I use 40/60 (40% paint) . When I felt that that the mix became to dry I added a drop of isopropyl to keep going. I also removed the protective ring of the airbrush, so that the needle was unprotected. In that way you can come as close as 1 mm from the model. When starting a line, start while moving and build up the thickness of the line in several passes...
Clogging of the needle tip didn't happen

I see, Bart, thanks for explanations. Gunze and Tamiya are good for free-hand work. It's just uneven consistency of line confuse me a bit. This happens when it's difficult for paint to flow through the nozzle/needle. On some airbrushes I found that I can get more even lines with higher pressure. But it very much depends on nozzle...

I like that it's uneven...it's a scheme that was applied in the field and I'm sure not all the Luftwaffe mechanics were expert painters 😉

Hi Nikolajs, the "wider" parts on the tail, and some parts on the wing have been "changed" a little (read: made narrower), will try to post some progress soon, but at the moment there's little time to build... (renovations at home and work...) Concerning the higher pressure, I tried it, but it was more difficult to start a line on the model, or you need to pass more rapidly. That can also be a reason for the clogging of the needletip, because the paint can dry faster...

@Wim: thx, that was also my thought... it is field applied, and even with a spray pistol it would be difficult to spray even lines of consistent thickness and transparancy/covering

Album info

The hobby boss Ta-152 with torpedo. Started the build a while ago, and forgot to take pictures... I t has an interesting camouflage that I wanted to try. Still need to do some touch-ups and the scribbling with RLM76 at the topside still needs to be done. Everything is airbrushed freehanded.
Comments on the scribbling at the bottom are welcome (on the rest of the paintjob also 😉 )
