Next up is the Colonial Viper Mk II. This will be the first project I get to try out my new airbrush on, so I expect a bit of a learning curve on this one.

Current plan is to model it in flight, but I'm not a huge fan of the supplied stand, so I may figure out a way to come up with an alternative.

Also, just going to leave this link here for me so I can find it later, its a number of detail shots from the full-sized prop from the TV show.

Hi,
An alternative could be to place a structure on the diorama, could be a reproduction of a part of the bridge of a space ship, or simulate a wall of the spaceship. Then with a pin from the engine exhaust in the first case (perhaps difficult to simulate the exhaust gas), in the second case a pin from the wing to the wall of the spaceship

Duncan/Alberto -
Thanks for the tips. I don't think I want to do a hangar diorama with this one, I think I'll just build it on its own, possibly replacing the plastic base with a wood or metal one. But, for those interested, the back of the Moebius box actually doubles as a diorama backdrop. I'll post a picture when I get a chance

Finally finished the cockpit and pilot, now on to the actual ship itself.

Some more progress before the holiday hits, getting the body assembled and beginning work to hide the seams. There are some ugly ones behind the wings where the engines attach, luckily they aren't very visible in the final model. I've decided to use the included stand, but paint it solid black. If I can find a good decal logo, I might add it to the base.

First coat of gloss white did not turn out well. Not sure exactly what was the problem. Could have been the paint, the temperature, or just a bad application. Looks good in some places, and horrible in others. Going to try sanding it down tomorrow after it fully dries, then hitting it with another coat. Hopefully I'll have some better luck.

Second coat of paint came out much nicer. Not sure if it was the temperature or if it just needed two coats, but I can start moving on this project again.

Completed, going on the shelf. Might repaint the base to black next time I am spraying things, but otherwise, I consider this one complete.
