Thanks CaptGPF! :]
I had fun experimenting with this one. A nice, inexpensive, but cool mobile suit to play with effects.
For those who don't to paint:
I pleasantly surprised how much of a finished look I could get with just layered washes, very minimal hand painting, using cotton swabs before everything dries and, after drying, some judicious scuffing of the results using sanding sticks/hobby-knife blades.
Just remember to top coat to lock it down!
Album info
Stumbled on this Gelgoog from "0083: Stardust Memory" at a local store called "Lil Thingamajigs!"
And that was not the only surprise, the kit only set me back $13.99! 🙂
Granted, it's just a HG (and a 20 year old tooling), but I've always liked the design.
Going to start it as a quick 1-or-2 day build as my better-half also had picked up a kit that caught her eye, so we're going to build together again (almost exactly a year ago she built her very first kit (HG of Char's Zaku II). Maybe this will become an annual thing?? LOL
Anyway, a quick initial build to show what it looks like "out-of-the-box," then I'll probably tear it back down to do more serious work on seems, and decide if I'm going with the classic paint scheme or taking it in another direction - time will tell. 😉 ....
So, after several months sitting (August 2022 - March 2023), I took this nearly apart and rebuilt, painted, tried to fix/hide seams, all while experimenting with new tools to assist with battle damage: rotary tool and soldering iron!
I'm amazed at how differently the finished suit looks in different lightning and how some details appear under each condition.
