1970 Dodge Challenger T/A View: Slideshow Mosaic List 1 September 29, 2021
Parts prepped and ready for primer. I have never worked on so many mold lines!
2 September 29, 2021
Used the dremel to add some dents and chips
3 4 September 29, 2021
Used thin cement to create texture and scratches and smooth out some edges.
5 6 7 September 29, 2021
This kit has the option to build it as stock or custom. I've chosen to go with stock.
8 September 30, 2021
"Paint exhaust tip black". Nope, this can be better!
9 September 30, 2021
Exhaust holes drilled or with pin vise. Much better!
10 October 2, 2021
Tyres sanded for worn look. Will most likely be painting and weathering these also.
11 October 5, 2021
Let's install some speakers!
12 October 5, 2021
A dremel and a lot of sanding later... circles are hard!
13 October 5, 2021
Left over mesh from the Kawasaki H2R will make excellent speaker mesh
14 October 5, 2021
A couple of 6" speakers pumping in the back! Not my neatest work with the cement, but this will all be primed and painted. They look better in person lol.
15 October 8, 2021
Parts primed and ready for paint
16 17 18 October 8, 2021
Rust base done with Tamiya flat brown thinned and airbrushed
19 20 21 October 8, 2021
Stippling flat brown onto the chrome parts to resemble rust by turning the psi down on the airbrush until it spat paint
22 23 24 25 October 14, 2021
Wanted some faded paint to show through as well as rust, so lightened the body colour green and sponged that on too. After that I gave it all a wash with Tamiya Dark Brown Panel Liner.
26 October 14, 2021
The chrome parts were hand brushed with Molotow Liquid Chrome.
27 28 29 30 October 14, 2021
No decals with this model, so had to paint them by hand.
31 October 14, 2021
First attempt at a woodgrain finish. It has come out a little glossier than intended so I may have to flatten it a little.
32 October 18, 2021
Dashboard completed!
33 October 20, 2021
Hairsprayed, painted and ready to chip
34 October 20, 2021
After chipping. The green didn't come off as easy as the black. Now I'm a little worried about doing this to the car body.
35 36 37 38 October 20, 2021
Vroom vroom!!

Front and rear suspension fitted
44 October 20, 2021
Exhaust system fitted
45 October 20, 2021
Some additional tubing for the engine
46 47 October 22, 2021
Interior done! Went for a worn look on the seats by using a grey wash. Not happy with the result. In hindsight I should have just gone with a light black.
48 October 22, 2021
Love how the flocking and floor mats turned out
49 50 October 28, 2021
What's done is done. #sorrynotsorry
51 52 October 28, 2021
All parts done with hairspray technique, except for roof, bonnet (hood) and hood scoop, which were done with salt.
53 54 55 November 2, 2021
There was way too much salt on the roof so I had to dab a little more green on with a sponge. Decals added, rubbed and chipped. Then a few more oil washes to finish it off.
56 November 2, 2021
Love how these decals engine bay came out after some weathering

So as luck would have it I dripped cement onto the hood while attaching the scoop. So we have ourselves another rust spot now.
75 November 2, 2021
The interior was way to clean so I dirtied it up with a brown oil wssh
76 77 78 November 5, 2021
More weathering done using washes and rust pigments, including some real home-made rust.
79 80 81 82 November 5, 2021
Roof lining done in a mix of black and brown acrylics
83 84 November 5, 2021
Decided to go really dirty and rusty on the undercarriage. This was a lot of fun.
85 86 November 7, 2021
Engine completed with additional wiring
87 November 7, 2021
Even added the spring

Album info The "hand-me-down" project
~ Son acquires Dad's project ~
Son: "Body needs work and there's a fair bit of rust. It's running well now that I've dropped a new engine in. Having fun adding a few of my own touches here and there, like a new set of speakers on the back shelf, but still a lot of work to do."
