Junkers D.I (late)

Album image #1
The fuselage of this kit is made up of 4 sides, but the seam line doesn't line up correctly for all of them. The top and bottom parts had to be cut at the centre seam and be sanded a bit to correctly line up with the side parts

Fuselage all put together and painted

The exhaust was also drilled out

The reference I'm using shows the stripes on the fuselage to be red/white, rather than blue/white as per the decals. I therefore removed the blue sections and made some replacements with red decal stripes

My reference also indicated the makings on the wheels were different to those in the kit, so I drew up and printed some replacements

Album image #6
Wings painted in green/lilac camo

Main subsections put together and decals all applied. The Roden decals were terrible - I ended up replacing the side crosses and white stripes as the kit ones wouldn't settle down. The wing crosses only settled with the strongest decal softener I had (some old Poly Scale stuff)
