COVID build #4 Porsche 911

All the bits and pieces 

The body. Great detail, but some work is needed

The lines are sanded flat, but the lines stay visible in the plastic 

After 4000, 8000 & 12000 sanding cloths.  

Cut, sanded, bagged and boxed 

De-chroming 

Done 

Tamiya fine primer white. Some graining on the bonnet 🙁 

I did want the grainy primer to stay here, to represent a coarse protective coating  

Paint sprayed 

In more natural light 

 

Oven cleaner. Didn’t work. Brake fluid did 

Masked the undercarriage  

I wasn’t happy with the grainy titanium silver. So she was stripped and got a coat of Alclad silver base 

 

Sanding attempt led to sand through  

Post-brake fluid 

After cleaning, I sanded the whole body with 3600, 6000 & 12000 grit 

Silver base #2 

Primered the rest with silver base as well 

Everything.... 

Now it’s Alclad Candy Cobalt. Three times is a charm? 

Painted a green sunvisor 

Here she is after 8k &12k wet sanding 

 

Alclad doesn’t like Vallejo liquid mask  

Painted the engine Vallejo silver and the transmission gun metal 

Some highlights on the dash 

Satin varnish on the seats for a leathery look 

Satin and silver 

Also satin on the seats, gun metal on the speakers 

 

Getting in shape 

Resprayed the rims Alclad silver base. Awaiting black 

Molotow chrome on the tips 

Seats and gearstick in place 

 

Lost my doorhandles and rear view mirror. Attempt to scratch some 

Handles
