Following. Not sure you're aware, but there's a kind of groupbuild going on - Andy Ball & Guy Rump already started, I'm going to join in few days.

Where is the groupbuild? In events? I am useless I can't find it. I haven't started yet I am meshing about with another build.

Following and welcome to the GB! I think we have all had some issues with the PE and fitting so far. Looking good so far 🙂

It's those tricky side-wall tubular cages...I put the starboard one on a fraction too low, and managed to break the triangular one, which meant a very delicate build in the cockpit-coming-together bit.

I am, at the same time, looking forward and dreading to put the cockpit together. I have noticed that the bottom triangular bit is levitating on the tubular sides. I tried to mark the lateral sides of the cage in the corners where the triangular piece has to sit. But if it can be broken I am sure I will break it!
I am doing a wash to the cockpit tonight and, things going well, I will start the assembly tomorrow. I will upload some photos of the painted interior before I start breaking things.

at the stage you're at Carlos, I wish the assembly would have been to have the side cages and the triangle attached around the floor and seat...then put in to the halves of the fuselage...it's very delicate and tricky...anyways....hope you crack it!!

I am really pleased with the cockpit and ready to start the assembly. I could have refined more the painting but I am nearly sure that almost nothing is going to be seen.

Have you checked the instrument panel across the two side walls?, I needed to deepen the grooves on both sides to accommodate it. Yours looks great!

Andy, thanks for trailblazing the way. Yes I did have to deepen the groves and sand the instrument panel. I also broke the bottom part of the cage. That is a tricky cockpit assembly. Once I glued the two halves, with a bit of encouragement, the airplane come together nicely.

Eureka!! You got it together! The rest of the build is now great, (the oil cooler underneath may need a bit of attention- but simple)...so glad you made it!

I had a great weekend of painting. I had an accident with the liquid mask pulling out the paint, perhaps I should have waited more for the paint to dry, and the colour that I resprayed is different but it is not too bad. On the positive side, I am very happy with the panel lines preshading, they are subtle and it doesn't show in the photos with the gloss but it is there.

An update in my Hurricane:
I had minor problems with the decals, I am not sure why. They are really thin and look great but a few of them wrinkled badly: I lost one of the registration numbers in and I had to replace the upper roundels with ones with a slightly brighter red in the middle. I think that perhaps I used too much Micro-sol. I knocked over the pot again, perhaps it is time for another setting solution. Any suggestions?
It is the first time that I have a go at weathering. I may have over done it but I had so much fun with the smoke stain.
Anyway, next all the small details...

Hi Carlos: it was pointed out to me by Łukasz that the upper-wing roundels look a little bright compared to the fin flashes, (my pic: 31)... I gently darkened mine with a v. diluted black/brown wash- and they seemed to come into tone better. I'm not sure why the MSol would lighten them? Clearly the ground crew have not had a chance to fix the oil leak, which of course adds to the extra smokiness....man, you can make up any story you like to justify!! Love the details on the underside!!

The underside looks good, the side smoke stain seems bit heavy.
The wing decals look bright, but Andy mentioned the fin flash is too dark anyway in this set.
Nice progress, I'm still waiting for the heatwave to end and for my Yahu set to be delivered.

Underside is lovely Carlos, the issue with the decals is something I'll have to have a look at when I get there...🙂

I didn't explain myself well. I got silvering in the roundels. I could have put too much microsol but be careful. I replaced the two top roundels with another pair that's slightly brighter but it'll have to do.

I'm done! I have really enjoyed this one and it has been even more of a pleasure doing it in company. It has been my first attempt at weathering, I have over done the smoke stain but I am happy I tried, a few times I have been too worried of ruining all the previous work. (I was trying to get something like this [img1])

Very good first attempt of yours to age the plane. I especially like how the bottom has been. Enhorabuena!😉

Nice one, the first pancake is always spoiled, so just have fun during your next weathering attempts. I like the underside too. 👍
