CB-23
Reference from starwars.com
Top section of the BB-8 head removed
Depressions in the head (for original sensors) and panel lines filled and sanded
New panel built for the top of the head. Also aerials modified from kit parts - the small one doesn't need any changes but the large one was cut down and had a piece of styrene rod glued to the end as a locating tab
Visible section of the head interior boxed in and some detail added using styrene rod and tube
New sensor eye added to top piece - modified from a leftover eye from and R2-D2 kit
Main eye piece fitted to the head - made from a shaped piece of 3mm styrene with an indentation milled into it sized to fit a lense from a Bandai R2-D2 kit (a bit bigger than the lens from the BB-8 kit)
Top and bottom pieces added to the head
Head primed - still needs some clean-up and further panel lines
All scribing done on the head and additional detail parts added
First coat of paint - Alclad polished aluminium plus sealer. Lots of masking ahead!
Lots of masking and turquoise paint done. More masking required before the red goes down
Masking on head finished and crimson colour sprayed - all body painting now finished
Assembly finished and gloss coated, ready for decals

I bought the BB-8 & D-O kit for the D-O droid but I'd already built BB-8. Therefore I'm converting the BB-8 to CB-23, the other ball droid in the Star Wars Resistance cartoon. The body is the same as BB-8, just different colours, but the head is quite different and needs some major changes.
