Good start Jayden! Can we have a close look at the cockpit and crew and would you recommend the kit so far? Which version will you build?

Hi David and everyone. Matchbox made the models so easy to put together and for a kit that was boxed in 1975 it has stood the test of time (crossing my fingers for the decals). There really is no detail in the cockpit other than the really nicely detailed pilots. Jayden wants to do the Multi purpose jet trainer Prototype XX154.
Would I recommend it?! Absolutely great little kit but good luck trying to find one.

Nice progress, really hope the decals still work. Recently had problems with an old tamiya mustang, where the decals just dissolved in water.

If it goes wrong I'll go through the spares box and see what I have. I don't think my son will mind too much.

My wife and I won't let him watch a screen in the week which is half the battle. He also has a wonderful interest in planes and military things. I think he's pretty excited about using the airbrush which is the next stage

I got him using Tamiya Extra Thin. He could dry fit then simply touch the joint with the brush. It kept it very clean.

Well done Jayden (and dad!). Great memories, that model was my real first solo... so long ago. I was so excited and impatient when painting that it finally wore an amazing tri-colour paint scheme, white red and... PINK . Who said you have to let dry between colour layers??!! : ) : ) : )

I thought it would happen, he's not interested anymore as his hockey and nerf guns were competing against it. I've put the colours on and gloss coated it. I'll see if I can get him to decal it.

Once the 'ugly duckling' has grown some feathers and looks like what the box art says, and he does the decals, his sense of achievement will hatch a whole new interest in modelling. Believe me. My son just couldn't show enough people "What he had done". And from there on, it was a constant "Dad, can we go and get an other model..........PLEASE. ?" Pride has a thousand ways of showing up, but with a scale model complete and on display............well. Good on him having so many choices. Good luck to him. 👍

Cheers Kerry, wise words. Like I say, he's been busy with other things (me too). His first season playing ice hockey for a team and they finished 2nd last weekend.

What an awesome kid. !!!!!
A healthy life style is a most important thing and I am all the wiser for knowing that he has a huge interest in life.
Thank you for sharing Gareth. 👍 🙂

Well the Hawk is on the ceiling. We've had to start a new section for jets as "it doesn't really match the other planes". He's looking forward to "his" Eagle going up next.

Jayden. I am most impressed with all those ceiling dwellers mate.! 🙂
I am wondering when the sub's and ships will start to appear. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Yup, nothing better than looking up at them from your bed and imagining being the pilot of one or all of them.👍
Your dad will have to move aside at the work shop desk soon, as the great result with the Hawk means.............LOOK OUT !! Here you come. hahaha
Well done Jayden, A job well done. 👍 👍 👍

Very nice! Airbrush makes all the difference.
Willing to purchase the unused XX156 markings for my Hawk: if you still have them and willing to post them to England?
