This is the old tool kit from the 80s. And it shows. You can see how bad seams were. And it lacked any kind of meaningful detail. Hence the after market stuff.
The decals are a mix of kit(mainly for stencils) and Super Scale decals. Not impressed with them. They look great on the backing, but the large tail decals were brittle. They cracked and tore at the drop of a hat and did not do well with micro sol or set. That being said, I managed to work with them and they ended up looking pretty good.
I decided to leave her clean, as ANG planes almost never get dirty.

So, I realized that the only pics I had of this one finished were craptastic. So I took better ones. During which I discovered the decals are flaking off. Dull coat be damned. *sigh* Oh, after I posted the original summary, I did make her a little dirty. 😄

Hey do you remember if you had much trouble getting those exhaust nozzles to work with this kit?

I dont recall there being a lot of issue with them. And a HUGE improvement.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Glad to hear and yes I bet, the kit nozzles are underwhelming to be polite.
You did great on yours btw, impressive finish, I really dig the weathering.

Thank you. I kept it to a minimum. I'm not big on heavy weathering unless it's a combat aircraft or the like.

Hi Donald! Great work! I love what you did with the cammo! Which gray tones did you use? Also, I wonder if you had any issues with the Eduard PE. I understand it's designed for the Hasegawa kit. Did you have trouble with the cockpit parts?
(I just found the same kit at a good price and could not resist 🙂 )

Giorgos, I had very little issues with the PE set. It didnt require a lot of fiddling if memory serves.
As for the paint. I used Model Masters, which good luck finding, but the FS colors were FS 36176 Dark Gray, and FS 36251 Aggressor gray is what the light gray is supposed to be, but I didnt have that at the time. I think I went with light gull gray or the like.

Also, look at my F-15EX build. The colors on that are the same as the Cs. I fiddled with mixing stuff to get a better result.

Many thanks Donald!
Eduard PE: I suppose that the set is worth the investment and the effort to fit it.
Colors: I got to be honest with you: I don't know if it's the photography or the gray tones you used or the weathering, but I kinda love the contrast of the cammo on your F-15C better than the F-15EX 🙂 I hope my F-15C build to remotely approach yours!

Thank you sir. 🙂 I was experimenting in both cases. I knew I wanted the C crisp as it is an ANG plane and they tend to be brighter and crisper in their camo.
