F-4b 152247 VF-142 "Ghostriders" USS Constellation Aug 10 1967.

2018 rebox Academy 1/48 F-4b, with Furball aero designs Killer B decals, eduard exterior, interior, brassin ejector seats and wheels.  

Work began on the main gear wheel Wells, I constructed them opposite to in the instructions, as it made more sense, and the parts wanted to fit like this.  

First Phantom build ever, very exiting.  

Got the main gear wheel bay all flat and true.  

Fitted the eduard bay detail plates with gorilla glue so I can maneuver them into position.  

Just dry fitted the parts, the fit is really good. And with care I should be able to construct it perfectly.  

Love the lines of the Phantom, lovely stuff.  

 

Painted the engine ducts with vallejo. And washed with inks.  

Details you will never ever see. Fan and hub painted and detailed, painted trunking insignia white.  

No one will ever see this again.  

Details added from the eduard set to the engine.  

Test dry fit for gaps, there were none at all.  

Test fitting dry fit, front view.  

Test dry fitting ducts and wing.  

Slight gap, but that will go, when the wing is on and all glued up.  

Test dry fitting of intakes. Appear to be fine so far.  

Added wiring detail to main gear wheelbay, from fuse wire and solder. May well add a bit more to the side walls.  

These details will pop when painted and weathered.  

Starboard wheel well detail.  

Port wheel well details just dry fitted. 

Looking good so far. 

Starboard wheel well dry fitted in wing. To check for alinement, gaps and general aesthetics.  

 

1/48 Academy F-4b Phantom, eduard PE exterior detail set, VF-142 "Ghostriders" USS Constellation, Vietnam, 1967. I was massively scared of using PE, it's too small, it's metal, my eyesight is poor. But, it's strangely addictive, when it goes on good and true, it looks very good. I'm not going to go mad with it, not until i build my 1/350 Graf Spee, but my confidence is growing using it.
