The Black Island (DH 82 Tiger Moth)

Been looking at this box for a long time in my stash! It's about time! 

Not much on the sprues, but such a nice looking kit. 

Easy enough first steps on the cockpit. You won't see much, so I'm not spending a ton of time on it. 

Everything lined up and painted XF-71 Cockpit green. Good to go! 

Buttoned up. Not much of a seam, but let's try to make it invisible all the same. 

Those handy "strut holders" that come with the kit are really handy for making sure everything lines up properly. 

Painted the wheel rims and the top part XF-16 Aluminium. 

Now for a coat of X-17 Pink for the yellow undercoat. 

And now the XF-3 Yellow. The pink always makes it a really rich tone too - and only one coat! 

All assembled and ready for the Blue Rider decals. One problem is that the protective sheet over the decals seems to have adhered a bit to the decal film. Not happy about that. 

I salvaged the decals, but the underside is a bit dodgy. Too bad, because that will ultimately be the most visible. Notice the registration number is "Herge"? 😉 Now for the rigging! 

I used a bit of thin wire bent into a "P" shape for the rigging anchors. It works well for me.
