Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter

December 18, 2023Lets start with a box shot. The usual Revell side opener, really wish they'd use top opening boxes so you can keep the sprues in there and get at them easily.2
December 18, 2023Front engine assembled and primed with Mig Ammo One-Shot Black.3
December 18, 2023Base coated with Vallejo Metal Color Magnesium, ready to pick out some details.4
December 18, 2023Windings painted metallic copper, pipes black-grey and the intake fan metallic steel. Drybrushed with the steel colour and some small dabs of Nuln Oil wash for some shadowing.5
December 19, 2023Cockpit parts primed with One-Shot Grey6
December 19, 2023Side walls and back sprayed Metal Color Aluminium then used Black-Grey and Green-Brown for the panels and seat back.7
December 19, 2023Cockpit base sprayed Aluminium and picked out parts with Metal Color Magnesium, Black-Grey and again, Green-Brown for the seat.8
December 19, 2023Side view of the Cockpit base9
December 19, 2023Mando himself! Base coated with Dark Brown, details picked out with Metallic Chrome, Black-Grey and a small bit of Yellow on the fingers.10

13
December 20, 2023Cockpit assembled14
December 20, 2023Add one Mandalorian (also decaled and satin coated)15
December 20, 2023On to the engine housings. Primed Gloss Black then sprayed with Metal Color Duraluminum. End parts hand painted with Metal Color Magnesium.16
December 20, 2023Fitted the engines to the housings17
December 22, 2023Top fuselage primed Gloss Black then base coated Metal Color Duraluminum.18
December 22, 2023Top fuselage masked.19
December 22, 2023Metal Color Magnesium sprayed and the masking removed.20
December 22, 2023Another bit of masking to give a line around the nose section.21
December 22, 2023Metallizer powder used on just the nose section to make it look/shine differently to the rest of the fuselage. Did a lovely job of highlighting where the masking tape had been!22
December 22, 2023Bit more polishing and that looks better.23
December 24, 2023Grogu painted. Beige for his coat with light brown cuffs and collar, light green for the skin colour. Eyes gloss black primer and the base black grey.24
December 24, 2023Inside detail parts, base coat Aluminium with some detail picked out in different metallics.25
December 24, 2023Tail section, Duraluminium and Magnesium26
December 24, 2023Engine intakes, painted Duraluminium and polished with metallizer.27
December 24, 2023Engine housings fitted.28
December 24, 2023All the front engine parts fitted. The 'tails' have their tips painted Magnesium and the middle section only polished up with metallizer.29
December 24, 2023Starting to fill the desk!30
December 27, 2023Added the decals to the fuselage using just water. Slightly tricky as I'm avoiding clear coats to keep the metallic finish and metallizer but worked out nicely. Great decals Revell!31
December 27, 2023Close up of the decal across one of the open areas. They look fine to me.32
December 27, 2023Canopy masked up and ready for primer and paint.33
December 27, 2023Canopy painted and masking removed.34
December 27, 2023Fitted the canopy and the cockpit.35
December 27, 2023Second, Oh why! Revell logo moulded into the bottom part. Who on earth thought that was a good idea to put that on the outside. If it's really needed then put it somewhere that can't be seen afterwards or affects the painting.36
December 27, 2023A small bit of sanding and that's much better!37
December 28, 2023Gloss black primer and Duraluminium Base Coat on the bottom38
December 28, 2023Masking ahead of spraying the Magnesium parts39
December 28, 2023Masking removed and all the right colour.40
December 28, 2023Added the guns and the air intake (!) on the top section41
December 29, 2023The last bit of assembly on the ship so that's all complete.42
December 29, 2023Stand has been painted Gloss Black Primer and glued together with Krystal Klear Canopy glue.43
December 29, 2023All Complete!44
December 29, 2023Masked off the engine from the 'tail' for a bit of Smoke Oil Paint drybrushing.45
December 29, 2023Masking removed, nice and dirty 'exhaust'46
December 29, 2023Same Oil drybrushing on the rear engine.47
December 29, 2023Starship Filth Oil wash mixed up and used on the Magnesium 'inner' parts to darken them up a bit. And that's this one complete! I'll do a nice 360 against a clean background later.48
