Well it took almost 4 months but here's my latest build - Fantastic Plastic's 1/2400 scale Avengers Helicarrier. Apologies for the poor pic quality - this was too long for my light tent and, wanting to get this boxed up to its new home, I didn't bother with a lot of my normal photo procedures.
The kit itself is really, really bad and, looking into the price point, I was appalled that FP charged what they did for this. It is very clear that this was designed entirely in CAD and no one actually QC'ed the final model in real life. Poor fit issues abound - the wings don't match up with the lower hull and left a 1/4" gap all around, the engine nacelles are two parts and neither are the same size, and the upper deck needs plasticard spacers to fit in the upper hull.
I know it doesn't look like it but I added a lot of detail - the entire glass panorama of the lower control room, additional detail under the front flight deck, and lots and lots of greeblies to the wings and control tower. I painted this with Tamiya and Vallejo paints. Decals are those provided with the kit which started off being really good, but halfway through began ripping and tearing even as I took them off the backing paper!
As the "flight stand" (really just two resin pegs and bracers) were either broken or missing, I also built a display stand out of wood. There's enough space in the middle for the client to add his own SHIELD emblem.
i will be the first to admit this isn't my best work, but given the poor quality of the kit i had to work with, I think it came out OK.
