1/48 Seafire F.XVII

I haven't built a Airfix kit for ages, so I figured I'd give it a go.

Taking my time and going slow with the Seafire F.XVII. Drilled out the exhausts, added the tailplanes, finished the wings for painting, shouldn't be long until she sees paint. Some parts didn't want to fit at all, but after a bit of sanding everything fitted fine. Tail wheel broke off almost immediately, so I've fixed it with a ibt of wire. Going to have the arrestor hook extended, because I like the look.

That is it for today, knackered. Very, very early paint tests. It won't look like this when finished. I think I know where I'm going with it. But for a base layer, it's a good start. Doing it the old fashioned way, just like I used to on the kitchen table when I was little.

Due to my airbrush being elsewhere. The last plane I'll ever brush paint. Close to being the last model ill ever brush paint. The first I'll hopefully finish in thirty years. Looks like a plane to me, in colours I'm using. Not really bothered. Almost went in the bin.

Last Aircraft that I'll brush paint. Soon I'm going to learn airbrushing. 1/48 Airfix Seafire mkF.XVII 800 Naval Air Sqdn HMS Triumph Malta 1947. That's it for today, as it starts to get dark. A few more details to do, then decals and weathering.

It sounds like you're fighting with this kit. I looked at your pictures and I don't think they look as bad as you make out. I like the brine effect you gave your plane. Keep it up.

Slowly working through the WIP mountain. 1/48 Airfix Seafire mkF.XVII SX358 800NAS HMS Triumph Malta 1947. First gloss coat pre decals for thirty years. Decals, varnish, weathering and final fitment of bits n bobs next.

Not my favourite thing to do really. Finished most of the decals. Probably the last Spitfire I'll ever build, but atleast I've done one. Thirty year gap since the last one too. I'm more interested in other subjects I think now.

That's it, it's a finished as it'll be for now, not 100% but I've got much more interesting things to build and paint. Just wanted to see if I could paint an Airfix kit like I did thirty years ago. Turned out better than I thought. But need more practice.
