any tips on placing the main railing? Better to wait after painting (more things difficult to reach for detail painting), or to place it before (glue marks). Which method is best suited for this?

Hi Bart, take a look, hope that helps a little bit:
How to glue ship railings and how to paint decks | Album by Christian Bruer
You can use this method also after painting the whole model. To avoid and glue marks you can repaint the area or use matt varnish to cover the marks.

Album info
One of my first ship in 1/700, it's a bit puzzling to find an order for painting and glueing, but due to the parts breakdown, most will have to be assembled before painting. Positive location of some parts is heavy, but we'll see what I will do about that...
