October 10, 2024ready to start the project, the sprues are really clean and look sharp2
October 10, 2024my disappointment was that some of the thin pieces have become broken, for whatever reason, nothing some glue cannot fix, still something I would have preferred to avoid.3
October 10, 2024In general, the instruction manual is well written, but it was clear some of the indications were a bit left to the imagination, and to be frank, some bit was a bit over-engineered. Dry fitting is a must in this project.4
October 10, 2024as part of the project, I was very keen on trying out to wear out the tyres, a lengthy process but also very satisfying.5
October 10, 2024I started with getting the engine block and the main shaft of the truck ready and glued together, it didn't make any sense to leave it unglued, as I wanted to reduce the amount of time spent spraying before assembly.6
October 10, 2024Last problem before spraying was choosing the right colour. I ended up with C337 as probably the closest to what I could gather from some of the images I found online.7
October 10, 2024First batch of pieces painted with C337 after a light grey primer.8
October 10, 2024another view. I left out some of the pieces as I thought I was going to paint them in a different colour... not everything makes sense at the end.9
October 10, 2024now the last small bits that would need paint.10
October 10, 2024started weathering the exhaust, another lengthy process that requires some blind faith until everything is done.11
October 10, 2024I ended up doing a first pass of basic chipping and scratching on the engine block12
October 10, 2024After the chipping I ended up doing a second pass with "engine grime" enamel wash and brushed vertically to give a better overall used look.13
October 10, 2024After the previous enamel wash, I added a much more controlled dark rust enamel wash.14
October 10, 2024on some of the other pieces I ended up adding some dark brown to further enhance the rusting effect alongside the chipping.15
October 10, 2024The final effect looks extremely promising.16
October 10, 2024After putting the front wheels in, I wanted to see how the rear wheels would look like all together. I would still need more time without rear wheels to ensure I can finish the chipping and some additional work.17
November 15, 2024some glamour shots without the mudguards18

November 15, 2024started weathering the wheels21
November 15, 2024added some glorious mud to the rear wheels, still more to be done there.22
November 15, 2024I decide to dry fit the rear attachment to see how this would work, this is something I delayed in deciding if I wanted to have it or not and ultimately went for it.23
November 15, 2024next was adding some chains, so I started drilling a place to get them attached on the rear end24
November 15, 2024and started scratch build something I can attache the other end of the chain to.25
November 15, 202426
November 15, 2024finalise27
November 15, 2024and with the chains added28
November 15, 2024I decided to split the chains in half to make it easier as it was *in situ*29
November 15, 2024scratch built the battery cables30
November 15, 2024getting there!31
November 15, 2024rear end glued and finalised. needs some weathering32
November 15, 2024did some magic to allow the bonnet to open a little bit, but I can assure this was not something it was possible out of the box.33
