So apparently I'm back building Ma.k kits, bit random. This is one of the oldest and first Ma.k kits I bought back in 2007. 1/20 SAFS MK.III Raptor by Wave, NITTO and Modelkasten from 2003. Its the old NITTO SAFS with added bits by Wave and MK. The old kits are pigs to build, but this shall be only my second Ma.k build ever. Added putty metal texture, and slowly putting the Raptor together.

I think I know what I'm doing, kind of winging it as usual. For some reason I always make these backwards and awkwardly. Desert Raptor work in progress. Cockpit Hatch is far too light at the moment, but will eventually be toned down.

Chopped up the legs, intentionally built the thighs the wrong way round so I could get a better stance, conveying the weight of the suit, whilst staying within the confines of the base. Although still restricted by the old NITTO joints, as I didn't really want to convert and scratch new ones.

Added a tiny bit of swagger to the Raptors stance, just enough. Arms are still just dry fitted and posable, until I find their final positions. These old suits are what got me hooked on Ma.k in the first place. If a suit looked knackered and out of breath, it's this one. "What do you mean, I have to climb another hill?"

Getting there slowly, not final paint in any way, but a good base, at least I think so. Next is overall final body colour, then varnish, decals, weathering, matt varnish and more weathering, chipping and rusty dust.

Maybe shocking to some, but I always have intended this to be a desert Raptor, fighting at the same battle as my Falke, for two or three months in a radiation desert. Still very early days, only the base layer of paint still, after decals, weathering, rusting and chipping, flaking paint. what I'm going for will become apparent. I did think of leaving it darker, for two seconds.

Thats it for today. Decals, decals, decals. These ones from 2003 were on their last legs, if I hadn't used them now, I doubt they'd be usable very soon. Tomorrow comes sealing and weathering the decals. Steaming along with this one, having fun.

And that's that, finished, i could keep going, but id over do it, i never know when to stop, so im stopping. If i want, i can always come back to it one day. I only wanted to do a quick and dirty Ma.k build, took about a week I think, and had been in storage for sixteen years. 1/20 Wave, NITTO and Modelkasten S.A.F.S MK.III Raptor, Plo Greg T Kazan, 1st Squad, "blue R" 453rd Heavy Infantry Division Operation ThunderBall, the defence of the New Suez Canal between the 7th of May till the 14th of July 2886. On this one, for now, that's all folks.
