One of the other kit that ran through the printer the last weeks. All parts printed and primed. Some more filling and sanding necessary.
Model was scaled up to 1:8.

UUUUh, noice! I'm guessing a resin print? what primer did you use and where did you pick up the STL? I guess the painting& shading can be done with masking and airbrushing. but details definitely with a hand brush or paint pen.

i may have asked you already in other build.... but, what printer are you using?

Yes, it's a resin print, Donnie. I bought it from here: gambody.com/3d-models/nier-automata-a2
That's also where I got most other .stl from, like Wall-E, the Ornithopter, MOOSE, ED-209, the Pelican Dropshop, my Battlemechs and more. As far as I could see for every model there are .stl versions for both FDM and SLA printers.
For primer I almost always use Tamiya Acrylics NATO Black.
Yeah, I plan to paint most of her with the airbrush and do the details with the hairy one.
I would not call myself experienced in figure painting and I fear her face and her eyes the most.
No problem Spanjaard, I use an Anycubic Photon Mono and a Photon Mono X, which is a bit larger. I have no clue about 3d design, but luckily there's a lot of stuff already available from very talented people.
Though an additional skill is always helpful with this hobby. Like, if you want some specific extra armor on a tank or whatever.

This project was on hold for quite a while because I feared the painting stage a lot.
In the last weeks I printed another model of her and painting is already done. Will upload photos soon.
Currently I am waiting for the wooden socket base to be delivered to me so I can finalize this project.
For the base I plan to not just use the wooden socket but make a small vignette that somehow fits the game's environment. nothing too fancy though.
Not my proudest job of cleaning up a model but it looks pretty nice for first time figure painting.

Photos are up. So in the end I used the glasing technique with a paintbrush. But I painted her hair with the airbrush.
No way I am applying white with a brush xD
I tried that on the swords and quickily abandoned that strategy.
Eyes and lips turned out better than expected and I am also happy with the colour of the skin. I think it's somewhat close to her from the game.
Still lot of improvement possible here. I hope with future figures I will be able to draw even better eyes. Because I will print and paint more figures.

Thanks a lot mates.
I applied Tamiya smoke on her left leg last weekend.
That way her leg looks more like in the game and illustrations as if she is wearing some kinda stockings.
I might need to darken it a bit more. It's also very glossy now, which means I will carefully sand the surface with a 2000 grit sanding sponge.

Alright, finished A2. 🙂
I was finally able to try out my grass applicator too, but trying to fix that large sword was not easy.
Need to upgrade my photo background. The DIN A3 shee is not large enough, I have some nice black photo background but have trouble to get it into position. Will sort it out and then shoot some more photos of aleady finished models too.
That project took me a long time, though she was also waiting patiently a lot on my desk here.
More figurines to come in the future. It is a nice change of pace from building vehicles. I hope my painting skill improve over time as well.
Cheers!
