A T-34 has been captured by the Germans. The turret and gun were damaged beyond repair but the chassis was in fine running order and was slated to be converted to an artillery tractor. A wounded Sturmartillerie commander was passing by, and with his vehicle lost in combat, ordered the field workshop to quickly mount a Pak 40 L/46 75mm anti-tank gun to the vehicle and install simple armoured walls. Additional tools and equipment were commandereed, scavenged and "borrowed" from other tanks. Red Brown and Dark Yellow were oversprayed over the original Soviet Green. The original markings "334" were painted on using blue digits. Later, the "Beutemarder" was assigned to assist another unit, where the temporary digits "21" were also added. Unhappy with the poor frontal armour of the T-34, the commander had additional steel plating and panzer treads welded to the hull. There was no time to paint the additional armour as the 'Marder" was recalled to battle and the German/Russian hybrid rolled out to combat. Three we
