Tubing, wire and a cutting of guitar string 

The string goes in the tubing and the wire goes around it.

Rear suspension done too. This looks much better than the original.  

Front suspension fitted.  

Black is SMS Chassis Black.  

 

Inner wheels painted in SMS Steel. 

Had some spare PE parts left over from a previous kit. I filed the inside down with a dremel to fit. And added disc markings.  

Much improved! 

Keeping the kit chrome. Added some Tamiya black panel wash to them to tone them down a little.  

Tyres fitted. Will add the decals to the centre of the wheels later.  

Engine coming along nicely. The red is my own mix of Chevy Engine Red. It is Tamiya X6 and X7 red and orange at a 4:3 ratio. For some reason it looks much more red in photos than in real life.  

 

The fan has been fixed and is painted in SMS Stainless Steel. Tamiya black panel liner has also been added.  

 

 

 

Distributor is yet to be fitted as this will be wired first 

Undercarriage coated in SMS Black Surface Primer.  

Interior painted in SMS White. Details still need to be added. The floor will be flocked in black.  

Front seats painted in SMS White. I will be adding chrome trim to these using Bare Metal Foil. 

Chrome scraped off on the parts that will be black. This will be hand painted, very carefully. 

Model Air Silver and Tamiya Gun Metal hand painted. Weathering to come.

Tried for some wooden detailing on the dash. I've done better in the past. Think I rushed this one a little too much. The silver is Model Air Chrome and a silver Sharpie.  

Sanded back the existing distributor connectors and replaced them with rubber tubing. The cables are T2M 0.35mm red detail wire.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chromed the seats with Bare Metal Foil Chrome. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chrome on the doors done with the new SMS 0.5mm Hyperchrome silver maker.  

Base coat of SMS Jet Black over Mr Surfacer. Issues with the airbrush meant a lot of orange peel so I've hit it with 4000 and 6000.  

A lot of burn through, but I'll be laying down another base coat.  

Base coat reapplied, this time using SMS Jet Black + Mr Levelling Thinners. Happy with the result considering the current humidity. May need to hit it with some wet sanding though. 

 

 

 

 

 

8000 wet sand done. Time for a top coat me thinks.  

Top coat done in SMS Pearl Purple Grape. Unfortunately the humidity and hot temperatures, combined with having to paint outside, meant that it was a sandy finish with the paint drying before it hit the model.  

Will hit it with some Mr Levelling Thinners to see if it smooths out, otherwise I'll have to wet sand it and go again.  

Imperfections, for all to see. 

 

So, after this terrible result, I sprayed a coat of Mr Levelling Thinners and allowed it to dry. I then wet sanded it and applied another coat of SMS Pearl Purple Grape thinned down with Mr Levelling Thinners at about 50/50.  

After that, I wet sanded again with 6000, 8000 and 12000. This is the rault 

Looking much better.  

Maybe it's time for a clear coat now...  

To decal or not to decal, that is the question. 

2k applied. Left to dry for days. 

After Tamiya compounds and wax. 

 

 

 

 

 

Bonnet (hood) lining done with 1200 grit wet sand paper. 

Chrome done!
