Ey sehr gute Wahl!

Remarkable skill level for someone who has just built a handful of kits so far! 👍👍👍

Thx Thomas.
Clear Kote is now on and after some drying time, I will applay a dark wash and some pigments - especially on the seat!

Engine and Cockpit done.
The fitting of the cockpit into the body isnt the best, but with a "little bit" pressure and some Tamiya glue it fits after a while 😄

Thx Ekki
So body is now glued and I need a little bit of filler, but nothing serious 😉
Must admit that I thought it would be more for a kit from the 70s.
Sadly I encountered one problem with the canopy and the painting....
As you can see on this picture [img1]
the gun visor goes throw the canopy.
And as you can see in the instruction the canopy leaves a gap open at this spot
[img2]
I really hope that I can fill it and wont have any color after it in the cockpit, 🙁
Thx Ekki

I seperated the canopy to show it open, but sadly I wont fit at all.....
Luckily I had a spare part from another kit, but I ve also order vacu canopies from Squadron and Rob Taurus.

It starts looking like a plane😉
Some filler is needed, but nothing serious - especially when you consider that this one is from the '70s.

The wing and the body of my Ki 27 (Hasegawa 1/48) are now "married".
Sadly there are some more gaps then I thought, but nothing what I cant handle - I hope! 🙂
First step after that was to put some Vallejo Putty between the gaps.

I feel your pain. When we were young we had the time but no money...now I got the money (and a huge stash) but no time.

After a long time of absence I had to force me back to this project and started again with filling some of the remaining gaps.

After month of ignoring, I decided to continue the Nate.
The Canopy is now glued (what a piese of s***) and it also needed a lot of filler and sanding afterwards - one of the spots where you notice how old this kit really is......
My next task is now to "paint" the glue lines and find out where I maybe have to use some more filler, but it shouldnt be to much spots.

She is no primed in black and the next step is now to fix some small spots.
After that comes my first try of black-basing. 🙂

First try of using the black basing technique.
Not sure if its good that way, but I think it looks ok for my first try.
What do you think?

Looks good to my eyes. Off course I have never tried this technique myself, only seen it in action here on scalemates

Looking good! Just be careful to thin the base color enough for the final coat. Best to try it on a small piece of plastic. The great thing about this technique is, that the mottling will shine trough the top coat, creating a used/weathered look, you don't see the full effect on pictures and videos, because it changes depending on the light. So better a very thin layer than one that is too thick and destroys the effect. Will you add some other colors for tonal variation?

Thx David and will do.
No this one is one is just for paint opacity and getting into this technique.
On my upcoming Reaper or Hs 129, I will go for some variation.

Kind of happy with the resuilt, even you can't see that good on the photo, but it looks much more realistic then normal pre-shading (in my opinion).

Looking good. It's really hard to capture the entire effect in pictures. Keep up the good work on the upper side!

Well you seem to be turning this one round ok! I am confused, though, about the hinomaru. Are they decals, or sprayed on? What's with the masking around them? Very effective, whatever you've done!

Shame, but good job on fixing it. I am using oil washes, because you can just remove the excess with cotton and don't run the risk to remove paint with thinner.

Oh crap! you used the spot remover! LOL, Soren. I'm glad it wasn't too bad! I, myself prefer Oil base paint and acrylic washes since the acrylic thinner wont touch the enamel. I'm sure you'll still pull off a good looking plane!

My problem probably were the cotton swabs and maybe to much Oderless Thinner.
I will try it now to remove it with a brush. 🙂

After some small mishaps during the washing (not enough clear coat etc.), is the wash now to 85% finished.
Still have to fix some areas with more wash, but I think the result looks ok so far.
