WIP Köln truck

The chassis has some parts moulded on already. Naturally one piece is already broken off.  

The gearbox looks quite alright  

The exhaust pipes were moulded together 

So I split them 

The tip needed some putty, but came out nicely 

The seats needed a backing too, probably never to be seen 

The mount for the rear fender are frustratingly in the way for cleaning up the frame 

So I got them out of the way 

I replaced the plastic with 2mm brass rod and 1mm styrene sheet 

Looks much better 

Sanding the styrene to some identical pieces 

The seam lines were impossible to fix 

So I split the tank again and cut the other half from the frame 

Internal strengthening of the tank 

Dry fit. It will all be painted aluminium 

Trying to line up the cab 

All parts cut, sanded and thrown in one bag. Puzzle time later 

All 10 parts need to be just right 

 

 

A few days later. It took just under 4 hours to get everything glued just right. 

 

All parts are bamboo-ed. Repurposing the box for sorting issues

Tamiya bright red 

 

Zero interior stone grey 

 

Airbrushed Tamiya aluminium, thinned with slt 

 

The Zero stone grey was a bit depressing, so I mixed a batch with white, 50/50 and lightened some 

 

Especially for Bozzer, a bit of colour 

Ready to operate! 

Black! 

I like it 

No masking tape was harmed in this production  

This took over two hours. The indents were larger than the decals liked.  

On the nose 

These should have been done before glueing the grille in place 

 

 

To show the size of the decal sheets 

The roof should be 6 decals. But the biggest shred in 4, so I make it 9 😉 

This side is done 

 

I opened the grille 

Started on the starboard side 

And the cab is done. Two more decals on the aero package around the front corners. I can’t find a decal for below the window 

 

Mr Topcoat gloss. A bit grainy
