As I read your text I am smiling, because it was exactly the same to me as I started in 2013 again with scale modelling after more than 22 years. I started again with a similar Kit: scalemates.com/kits/111789-revell-04190-sopwith-f-1-camel
Also the result was the same by me 🙂 Now I learn more and more by every builded Kit. Cheers

Thank you guys. Somewhere in the Pile of Shame, there's also the Fokker DR III, the Albatros, the RAF SE 2. All Revell 1:72, all were not done too good to begin with and are now beyond repair. A nephew of just 3 years old will do that in a minute.

I have my models in the Showcase, even if they have errors and problems. So I can see my progress - more or less. The first was hand painted and the decals come off (no varnish or decal softener used). The second is painted with a cheap (crap) Revell Starter Airbrush Set and has a LOT too much color on it. But the first with varnish. The third is completly ruined due a irreparable building error. The fourth is painted with a good H&S Airbrush (which means nothing, because I still have to learn the handling) and the the first with weathering or rather with a washing - I don't have done a layer of gloss varnish prior and the result was a pain. Now, many many Kits later they all has a little error somewhere, but every kit is a step forward and have a place in the Showcase - as long as I have space 😉

But I can see that you have build a lovely F-89 Scorpion - well done 🙂

Album info

After a quarter of a century of not modelling, I started again in 2014. It's a whole new world out there. Not just enamels, but also acrylics, oils, washes and whatever.
So this was one of the first attempts of modelling againg, with acrylics, masks and wire. Things I didn't have/use back in the 80's and 90's. Another thing new is called the Internet. There is so much information out there, just a click away.
This is an album showing how rusty my skills were, how thick undilluted acrylics are, and painting insignia isn't as easy as it sounds.
