James, the tracks are already done and painted. As you can see, the first both posts were made March 2015. 🙂 I have already painted the lower hull in sandy yellow. Used the A.MIG-027 RAL8031 F9 German Sand Beige from Bundeswehr Afghanistan Scheme Smart Set. I think thats the closest colour for that camo.
The road wheels are nearly finished too. I will add some photos on weekend.

Looks really good yet I'm not sure if painting the wheels in 2 coulours is correct...
You might think about that, normally they are in one colour only.

Not on chinese tanks 🙂 I have checked some photos of the ZTZ 99A and some of the wheels are really two colored.
I know its a presentation vehicle and not an combat one. But its ok. I will use an different camo on the ZTZ 98/99 and a digi camo on the ZTZ 99B.
On the paint chart from Hobby Boss some of the wheels are even tri colored.

Thank you James for your kind comments 🙂. I bought that kit about 2 years ago on Amazon. It looked cool and dicided to buy it. And it was half price!!! 🙂 As you can see it on the first photo, the tracks are single link but not workable. Every track link is connected by four mould lines to the spure. They are really easy to remove. At first i thought it will be a really hard job to buid the tracks, but in the end it was very easy. You spend most of the time to remove the pins 🙂
I got the ZTZ 98 (you will find it under ZTZ99 in the Database) in my stash, and the ZTZ 96A on the way.

Here the colors i used for the camo if someone needs them:
Light Green (Base): Vallejo Model Air 71.006 Cam. light green.
Bright color: German Sand Beige A.MiG-026, but you can also use A.MiG-025 US Modern Vehicles, A.MIG-057 Yellow Grey or A.MIG-061 Warm Sand-Yellow.
Dark Green: AK796 NATO Green.

As much as i can remember, there were no issues with the fitting of the parts. No gaps to fill. I can remember only two issues with this kit. First one is not an issue but you have to be careful with the additional armor for the turret front. Be carfull while cutting it from the spure and sanding off the mold pins. If you sand off too much, there will be a small ugly gap between the armour plate and the turret.
The only "big" issue are the drive sprockets. If you assemble them straight from the manuell, they will be too short to fit into the tracks. The teeth won't fit into the track on one side. For more information please look at the review for the ZTZ96A: amps-armor.org/ampss..?ID=1722&Type=FB You will find the easy solution for this problem in the first step of the build log.
I am not sure if the problem still exists with the newer batches of this model.

I am not sure which chinese vehicle will be the next one. I got ZSL 92B IFV, ZTZ98/99 and ZTZ96A in my stash. Next week i will be on vacation so i have plenty time to finish my T-80 and T-80UD, 2S3 Akatsiya, GTK Boxer, F-16 and M60A1 with ERA. They only need to be painted. I think the next one will be ZTZ96A but only after i build my Terminator from MENG 🙂
