Area-88 Saab J35 Draken
1
April 1, 2024I'm building this Hasegawa's kit simultaneously with MikroMir's kit. Left cockpit is Hasegawa's.2
April 1, 2024I added seatbelts that are made from aluminium foil.3
April 1, 20244

April 1, 20248
April 1, 20249
April 1, 202410
April 1, 2024I hurried a bit with canopy.11
April 5, 2024Rudder being prepared. Upper pitot tube needs a tiny hole12
April 5, 20240,2mm brass rod as pitot tube.13
April 5, 2024Some vent carving.
14
April 5, 2024Fastly added rear lights.15
April 5, 2024Shin Kazama's Draken was built from Finnish frames, so this ADF antenna panel didn't have panel line in the middle.16
April 6, 2024First light primer (Mr.Surfacer white 1500) and some problem parts fixed with the same primer added with a brush.17
April 6, 2024I got an inspiration and wanted to improve navigation lights.18
April 6, 2024I had UV-cured nail polisher and Derwent Intense colour pencils.19
April 6, 2024Clear tape to keep the liquid stuff in intended place and it lets UV-light through.20
April 6, 2024Then just cleaning residues, sanding and polishing.21
April 6, 2024Similarly to left side.22
April 6, 2024More details!23
April 6, 202424
April 6, 2024Air scoop comparison: from left Quickboost (copied from Hasegawa but opened inlet hole and made of resin), Hasegawa and MikroMir.25
April 6, 2024MikroMir's IRST was a disappointment. It has a clear part and one PE-part, but the body of the IRST is too bulky and lacks panel lines. But I could use it to improve the Hasegawa's IRST.26
April 6, 2024Improved IRST in place27
April 6, 2024I had to drill a hole to the nose for Maestro Models' brass pitot tube. The fit is now so good that I could add the pitot tube after painting and everything.28
April 6, 2024More details added and the Draken is ready for painting camo.29
April 8, 2024Preshading done.30
April 8, 2024camo ongoing. I'm using A.MIG Middlestone FS3353131
April 9, 2024Camo airbrushed freehand along pencil drawn lines. Darker brown is Vallejo Air's 71.125 USAF Brown FS3021932
April 9, 2024Some nasty overspray...33
April 9, 2024Few spiders... Needs some fixing. Also A.MIG's paint is shiny but Vallejo's is matt. This doesn't matter much because varnish will even those.34
April 13, 202435
April 13, 2024Air intakes painted by hand.36
April 13, 202437
April 13, 202438
April 13, 2024I think painting is mostly done.39
April 13, 202440
April 16, 2024All decals applied41

June 9, 2024Maestro's pitot tube glued into a sprue with basic thin cement.43
June 9, 2024Pitot tube painted. Now I see the radome's failed masking (⋟﹏⋞)44
June 9, 202445
June 9, 2024Satin varnish applied and masking removed from the canopy.46
June 10, 2024Left one is a Falcon missile from MikroMir kit. The right one is RB27 AIM-26B Falcon by Maestro Models.47
June 10, 2024Missiles placed with Micro Liquitape. Landing gear doors are hold in place with blue tack.48
June 15, 2024My hastily done setup.49
June 15, 2024MiG-23 has a flashy finale 😄50
June 15, 2024I had enough Gundam Action Bases for this kind of use. The background is just a TV screen showing Google Earth landscape.51
June 15, 2024Next my photos need some heavy editing. I'm using paint.net for this.52
June 15, 2024Maybe a bit cartoonish, but lets see, when I get all the action pfotos edited. For these setting I had made one KP's MiG-23 for adversary.53
June 18, 2024Front wheel ready.54
June 18, 2024Some 0,2mm lead added to the main landing gear.
