Work has finally started and I thought I should start with the hardest parts first.
The flight control surfaces and the resin cockpit.

While I am quite confident (for now) with the ailerons, flaps and canards the resin cockpit is a bit of trouble. I hope I can get it to fix nicely once I am done painting it. Test fitting didn't work so well yet.

Welcome Roland, Murad and Greg. 🙂
Still fighting the resin cockpit and hope to get it somewhat presentable in the end.
After that I'll continue on the flight surfaces. They'll need some filling and rescribing

Welcome 🙂
Still sanding the control surfaces but I am slowly getting there. Cockpit painted and glued to the rest of the fuselage.
The fit is a bit bad, reason for that might be the resin cockpit parts that I did not place perfectly.
I regret it a bit that I used it but after cutting off the firewall of the front dash there was no turning back.

Slowly making progress.
The moving parts are almost done. Still having trouble with the ailerons and rudder. The plasticard keeps breaking away but I think some more coats of glue and sanding and I am good.
After that the scraping tool can do its work to seperate the new ailerons from the flaps.

For canards I used the elevators of a trashed F-15C kit. They were cut with the scraping tool and sanded a bit to shape.

I also had to cut a bit of the resin avionics bay or else the canopy won't fit.

While I don't know anything about Patlabor, count me in! The aircraft looks wicked!

Welcome, Maciej. 🙂
Still working on the wings. Filling, sanding, again and again.
But I think I should stop. it feels like some part of the control surfaces become pretty wobbly. On some ares it seems to be more glue than styrene. 😄
I am happy with the shape but not with the surface, it is not smooth enough.

Not sure how I should attach the stabilizers. They also need to be at an angle but that makes it hard to close the gaps between them and the fuselage. I'd prefer to be able to attach them after all painting and weathering steps.

Cool project! For the stabilizers I would use epoxy putty this way: stick a roll of putty to the edge of the stabilizer mating the fuselage, then wet the fuselage so the putty won't adhere, and then press the piece in place so that the putty conforms to shape. Now separate the stabilizer. After curing, you can sand the excess. Hope this helps.

Oh, that sounds like a good idea. Thanks David. 👍
