Para-Folland Gnat
1
August 31, 2021So I'm kit-bashing Me P.1111 with parts from Folland Gnat.2
August 31, 20213
August 31, 2021Nose will be from Gnat.4
August 31, 2021Canopy will be also from Gnat.5
August 31, 2021Cockpit is from Gnat.6
August 31, 20217
August 31, 2021Jet exhaust is from Gnat. The nose has some lead weight.8
August 31, 2021Some interior parts painted with silver and black marker.9
August 31, 202110
August 31, 2021I wasn't satisfied with the air intake so I filled it afterwards with epoxy putty (brown stuff).11
August 31, 2021I didn't want to squish Gnat's nose so I have to relocate the nose wheel bay.12
August 31, 202113
August 31, 202114
September 8, 202115
September 8, 2021Added drogue parachute housing16
September 12, 202117
September 16, 2021After adding the ejection seat the cockpit is complete. There was no room for head support nor ejection firing handle.18
September 16, 2021Brush painting black base.19
September 16, 2021I became too lazy masking canopy. This might backfire in the end.20
September 16, 202121
September 16, 2021Black enamel base (Humbrol 33) was a mistake. Next paint layer (Humbrol 11 + 34) diluted the black base color so I have to paint few more layers. It has been a long time since I have painted a model with regular brush and enamel.22
September 18, 2021Grey Humbrol 164. Again needed two layers.23
September 18, 2021Then two layers of green Humbrol 168.24
September 18, 2021Landing gears added and details painted. Landing gears are original from Me P.1111 and they look awful. I tried to add some minor details, but let it be so the model gets finished faster. Gnat under carriage is prettier, but smaller and doesn't fit directly. Maybe front wheel could have been taken from Gnat.25
September 23, 2021Decals are added.26
September 23, 2021There was not much space on the fuselage for the big national insignia and I didn't have smaller spare decals. Also I had some problems with Micro Sol softener.27
September 25, 2021I figured out that the panel lines should be scribed again because my brushed clear coat filled them. Scribing painted surface is just very risky.28
September 25, 2021Black panel line wash.29
September 25, 2021It got satin varnish and the canopy mask is removed so it is now ready.30
September 26, 2021Para-Folland Gnat is ready!31
September 26, 202132
September 26, 202133

September 26, 202137
September 26, 202138
September 26, 202139
September 26, 2021The left wing has some super glue spilled on it. I really should get some super glue remover.40
