Just reading the horrors you went through, your Starlifter actually looks nice though.

Nice result all in all. I respect your consequence as I have similar problems with some of my builds too 🙂

Looks like you've done an excellent job on a duff kit Don.

Thank you all. I have talked to a couple other folks who have done this kit, and all have had issues to one extent or another. I am getting the idea that the issues are highly variable on this one.

Dave, lots of dry fitting. And I would highly suggest using Tamiya extra thin glue. Do one section of the fuselage at a time. Adjust as needed as you go.

Ok so Sven has the two-tone and you have the dark grey, I guess I'll have to build a lizard scheme. Nice work Donald. I used to love walking through these every year at MacDill air show.

Album info

I was a loadmaster on 141s in the early 80s, so this plane holds a special place in my heart. Up until now, the only plastic kit has been the crappy undersized 1/200 Testors/Dragon/CyberHobby offering. I even submitted a short article to Airfix Model World arguing for a new tool in 1/144. The minimum scale it should be. Well, it seems one company was listening to my (and many others) opinion. Roden came out with a total new tooling in 144. And, sadly, it is mediocre.

To start. The plastic is...funky for lack of a better term. It looks almost recycled to me. But not a biggy.

The next thing that jumps out is there is no option for the cargo doors to be open. She is buttoned up tight. Well darn. It would take a ton of surgery and scratch building to pose her open. Ergh.

On to dry fitting! Ummmmm, locating pins? Hello? Oh there you are. All two of you for the fuselage. One front, one rear. And no matching hole for them to go in. Nothing to speak of on the wings either. Ergh again.

Cockpit...none. Granted, in
