Yes, that's going to be the sort of look I'm going for. I may tackle this again soon.

Hmm, I may have an addiction. I know, it's in space, so it doesn't need wings, but I'm basing this on dive and Torpedo Bombers so, Reversed Victor wings, sort of inverted Stuka look. The fuel tanks will be guns, and I've got missiles for under the wings. This thing could turn into a monster. Very fitting that a futuristic 1960s Bomber should end up as a space ship. Madness.

Very, very cool! Looks like it's ready to take on the Proximan menace threatening the TTA.

My scratch built and kitbashed nuclear Torpedo. It'll be slung under the harpy. I'm thinking I may have to make some big landing gear too at some point.

Aproximatly 1/32 scale, this is still only the bare bones, I'll re skin the whole thing with putty, then add panel lines, rivets, antennas, spikes and other details. My huge 1/32 revell phantom based Space Pirate Torpedo Bomber kitbash based on 1970s sci-fi and the Terran Trade Authority books. Contains parts of hundreds of kits I've not wanted to build, and the contents of my bits boxes from over the years. It's a labour of love, and a dream project, no instructions, no boundaries, pure modelling freedom. I don't want it to be perfect, if I wanted that I'd 3d print it, I want it to have parts slightly out of alignment, ugly seams and joins, and a bashed together organic kind of look. By the time I've finished, hopefully the original phantom kit will be totally unrecognisable.

That's it for today's getting sidetracked. This thing just gets bigger and bigger, luckily I'm not mad enough to build its carrier...... or am I??

After a long break, working on my large scale 70s Sci-fi inspired Space Pirate Torpedo Bomber. Starting to get the Atomic Torpedo together, Trying to keep it in the spirit of organic 1970s Sci-fi artists work, with a bit of a 50s flare too. There will be a warhead on the end, the spikes are just temporary. It'll be underslung on the Bomber, attached by a mechanical grapple arm, with all the greeblies, pipes and cables.

Working out the six engine layout on the H8-66 Hades Atomic Torpedo. Just blue tacd for now. Yeah, this is just the rocket end of the Torpedo. Eventually it'll be reskinned, panel lined, then it'll have its wiring, plumbing, fins, sensor probes and spikes added. Big badda boom.

I definitely want a vipers nest of pipes and cables, connecting the Torpedo to the Bomber. I'll have to make some similar to these GW ones, grouped pipes and wires, with connectors and fasteners. You can imagine the steamy greasiness of it, oil stains, bit of rustneed to drill a hole for a metal shaft, as all this will weigh a ton. It'll eventually hide a multitude of sins too. These are just photo sketches for my memory.

A bit more work on my 1/20 H8-666 Hades Atomic Torpedo, for my 70s sci-fi art inspired Big Scale Space Pirate Torpedo Bomber kitbash. Added more bits and bobs, it's starting to slowly come together. Really enjoying where my imagination is going.

Atomic Torpedo engine guts, wiring and gubbins. Filling obvious holes, adding interesting areas, who ever made this was insane. Thinking this may turn out orange, red and black, rusty, dirty, leaking and dangerous looking.

That's enough for today, it's getting there. Still layering the engines detail areas. Enjoying messing with my grown up LEGO set.

Painting and weathering continues on the 1970s Sci-fi art inspired H8-666 Hades Atomic Anti-Ship Torpedo. And this is just the Torpedo, the Harpie Pirate ship will be even bigger. Lots and lots still to do, need to make a release coupling, and fuel, power cables, come up with camo scheme, then more weathering, a bit more physical detail, then finally some data stencils.

Nice! Suitably distressed from use in space. Those TTA freighters don't stand a chance!

Adding wiring and plumbing, to hide seams and add a bit more detail to the rocket end. Not pretty, but space pirates aren't known for their engineering, more bodge and make do.

Dry fit test sketch of what I'm thinking for the Torpedo release coupling arm. Mixture of power cables and grab arms, it'll have a metal bar of some kind hidden in the middle for mounting to the main ship, somehow.

Basic idea for the grapple and power
attachment points. I'll flesh these out as I go.

Added more feeder pipes, and bodged electrical wiring amongst the rocket cans.

Back to the 1/20 1970s Sci-Fi art inspired Pan Tangian Space Pirate Ship. Starting to look like something from Star Fleet X-Bomber or Terrorhawks. It's huge!! And it's only going to get bigger. Wings and fins are dry fit until I get them where I want them. Spot the model kits.

Hello Ian, it seems to me that you have the shortest way to the Scale Modelworld in Telford. Maybe I'll see the model there next year.
