Album info
P-40B Warhawk.
This is my first "full Process" model since around 1991 and I was young. Over the past 8 months or so, I have done a number of Gunpla models, just assembling and a little panel liner. I did 2 other 1:72 models just for the practice of glue, panel liner and rigging (one was a bi-plane and another was a Wildcat that I rigged the first aerial antenna I have ever done.)
This model was a challenge as I was learning how to use my new airbrushes, using new techniques I had no idea about when I was younger and also just getting back into the flow.
Did it come out as I envisioned, no. Am I happy with it? Absolutely. This P-40 is the first of 6 models I have set up as "get the feet wet and figure things out" models.
So, what went wrong?
1) had a number of times that the primer and paint peeled up from the model.
2) First time using oil paints to do exhaust smoke and gun barrel fouling did not come out even close to what I expected.
3) Had a few decals that did not work out (one of the wheel hubs does not have the decal because of this)
What went right?
1) I had fun!
2) This is honestly the best camo pain job I have ever done. I am really happy with this part of the model
3) The red nose is also the best I have ever done. I am very happy with the way the prop spinner came out.
Overall, this $11 did what I expected. It helped me get settled back into the hobby.
